We'll also delve into the memory foam design and thoughtfully assess how the foam construction impacted our sleep quality during our 2-stage review process. A Quick Look at the NapQueen Mattress

NapQueen Mattress Construction and Design
The NapQueen is a seemingly straightforward bed with a supportive high-density base and plush top layer. Overall, I found the NapQueen Gel Memory Foam Mattress plush and comfortable once I settled in. While it was slightly heavy to drag into my room, it was very easy to set up.

NapQueen Mattress Performance
Now that you have a good idea of what the NapQueen Mattress is made of, let's talk about a few different performance factors. I’ll detail its firmness level, how it regulates temperature, isolates motion, and much more.
Mattress Firmness
The first night I slept on the NapQueen Mattress, I was surprised by its sinking feel that eventually turned into a supportive foam surface contouring around my body. The manufacturers say it is a medium firm mattress, and overall, I'd agree. When I slept on it, I sank into the surface slightly and felt the high-density foam layer beneath.
This made moving around and changing from one position to another a bit hard. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, though, as I stayed in one position while using the NapQueen bed instead of moving around.
Temperature Regulation
Performance: 7/10
I've tested countless memory foam mattresses, and I can acknowledge that these beds tend to sleep warmer than innerspring and hybrid mattresses. I tested NapQueen's cooling capabilities when the outside temperatures were about 30 to 60 degrees.
Thanks to a combination of cooling factors, I found it was slightly above average for a memory foam mattress. For starters, its medium firmness level and moderate body contouring preserve enough room for air to circulate your body. Second, the gel-infused memory foam layer prevents heat retention, and lastly, the polycotton cover is quite breathable, delivering a cool night's sleep during warm nights.
Motion Isolation
Performance: 8/10
I found motion isolation to be NapQueen’s major strength. Since its foam layers only react where weight is directly applied, movement on your side of the bed doesn't cause vibration on your partner's side.
This can be really beneficial for couples, especially if you're easily awoken and your partner moves frequently during the night. Powered by a high-density support base and a gel-infused comfort system, the NapQueen Mattress compressed nicely under our weights, significantly minimizing the motion felt on other parts of the bed.
Edge Support
Performance: 5/10
Memory foam mattresses are susceptible to issues with edge support, and the NapQueen Mattress is no exception. Memory foam’s deep sink means there will be a lot of compression around the sides, usually the weakest part of any bed. That and traditional foam's limited bounce can make your perimeter even more unstable.
Although this isn't a major issue for most sleepers, it might be a turn-off for individuals who love sleeping near the sides of the mattress. Those who often sit on the perimeter of the mattress to get dressed or put shoes on may also want to opt for a firm mattress with sturdy edge support.
Pressure Relief
Performance: 8/10
The NapQueen Mattress offered our testers above-average pressure relief. Each component is engineered to effectively relieve painful pressure points and promote proper spinal alignment.
The 6-inch memory foam design has above-average body contouring to cushion hot spots. On the other hand, the high-density base layer adds extra support in vital parts to help the bed be optimally tailored to each individual.
Responsiveness
Performance: 5/10
Changing sleep positions on the NapQueen Mattress is neither effortless nor particularly challenging. While the memory foam layers rebound slowly to their original shape, this bed is still medium in firmness, minimizing the extent to which you'll likely feel stuck in a particular position on the mattress.
Mattress Safety
Your bed's memory foam materials can release VOCs (volatile organic compounds) when you remove the NapQueen Mattress from its packaging. While these compounds aren't harmful, they can give off an awful smell that may irritate some sleepers, especially those with strong allergies and sensitivities to smell.
In most cases, this odor goes away within 2 to 3 days of setting up the bed. Allowing your mattress to sit uncovered in a ventilated room can help speed up off-gassing. That said, you might have to wait for about 24 hours before you start using your mattress.
Performance with Couples
In this section, we'll look at some of the most crucial factors to consider if you often sleep with your partner: motion isolation, cooling, sex, and edge support.
Generally, motion isolation is crucial for couples, as you want a mattress that will absorb your sleep partner's movements and help you sleep soundly. As mentioned earlier, the NapQueen Gel Memory Foam Mattress had great motion isolation results. This means couples are unlikely to feel their partner's movements during the night.
When it comes to sex, the best mattress for couples is a model with a bit of bounce, cushioning, and responsiveness. I'd say the NapQueen Mattress is a good bed for sex. While it didn't have much bounce during testing, I didn't feel stuck on the surface, meaning you should be able to change positions and move around during sexual activities on this mattress.
Since two people sharing a mattress overheat more quickly than one, you'll want to use a mattress with some cooling tech. Fortunately, the NapQueen Mattress does - it has a breathable soft fabric cover, and its comfort system is made of a gel-infused memory foam layer, which is more aerated than standard memory foam.
Speaking of edge support, couples will want sturdy edges that allow them to spread out and utilize the entire mattress. What's more, good edges help with durability by preventing premature sagging. I think the NapQueen Mattress has average edge support. Although it's not the strongest I've tested, I didn't worry that I would slide off when sleeping on the sides of the bed.
Sleeping Position and Body Weight
The NapQueen Gel Memory Foam is a medium firm bed, which is the firmness level that usually works well for side sleepers. So, it didn't come as a surprise when I felt great while sleeping on this mattress. Its thick foam layers cushioned my joints, and I felt zero pressure on my hips and shoulders.
The NapQueen Memory Foam Mattress was less comfortable when I switched to my back. When I tried to settle into a reclining position before sleeping, my butt sank all the way down, and I felt like I was about to fall back.
Among our back sleeping testers, the NapQueen Gel Memory Foam Mattress was a perfect fit for those who weigh less than 130 pounds. They didn't sink much into the surface, and the bed comfortably cradled their lumbar spine.
This mattress also didn't work well when I shifted to my stomach. In this position, I could feel my hip region bowing into the surface, which was quite uncomfortable.
If you're a stomach sleeper, you'll probably want to find a firmer and more supportive alternative with less plush comfort material at the top layer. Generally, sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds may find the NapQueen Memory Foam Mattress suits their needs as they won't sink as much into the foam layers.
Layers from the bottom | Below 130lbs | Above 130lbs | Above 250lbs |
Side Sleeper | 5 | 4 | 3 |
Back Sleeper | 4 | 4 | 3 |
Stomach Sleeper | 3 | 3 | 2 |
What our sleep experts think about the NapQueen Mattress:
“The NapQueen Mattress wasn't the easiest bed to move around on when changing positions. However, I did feel like I received solid support, irrespective of the position I was in.”

NapQueen Vs. Amerisleep AS3
Amerisleep is running a flash sale on active November 21, 2024!
The NapQueen and AS3 from Amerisleep are both all-foam beds that look quite similar on the surface at first glance—however, the main differences between the two lie in the materials found in the inner layers. Unlike the NapQueen, which features gel memory foam and high-density foam layers, the AS3 combines Amerisleep's Bio-Pur foam with an HIVE transition layer and a supportive Bio-Core base foam. This gives it more of a responsive and balanced memory foam feel.
Other outstanding features of the Amerisleep AS3 include:
- Dust-mite resistant and made without toxic chemicals
- HIVE technology delivers targeted support
- Plant-based foam alleviates painful pressure points
Overall, I recommend the NapQueen Mattress to strict side sleepers and fans of slow-moving memory foam. The Amerisleep AS3, on the other hand, will be a better pick for individuals who want more lumbar support, fans of a bouncier bed, and those who are ready to spend on a high-end mattress.
NapQueen Vs. Molecule 1
Molecule is running a flash sale on active November 21, 2024!
The NapQueen and the Molecule 1 feature different materials, especially in their comfort system. As discussed earlier, the NapQueen has a high-density base layer and a gel-infused memory foam layer. The Molecule 1, conversely, comes with a precision-contoured 3D geometric surface that is unique in nature and functionality.
We also loved the Molecule 1 because of its:
- Zoned layer, which offers targeted support in multiple sleep positions
- Medium firmness which works well for combo sleepers
- Hip support that helps with spinal alignment
While both models are solid picks for back and side sleepers, I'd recommend back sleepers, especially those who often switch from their backs to their sides, to opt for the Molecule 1 Mattress. It boasts up to 3 zones that offer targeted and self-adjusting support for different body sections. On the other hand, if you prioritize pressure point relief and responsiveness, the NapQueen Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a great choice for the price.
NapQueen Vs. Nolah Evolution 15
Nolah is running a flash sale on active November 21, 2024!
Different from the AS3, Molecule 1, and NapQueen, this mattress boasts a unique hybrid design that gives it a bouncy and responsive feel. While both mattresses perform well for hot sleepers, the Nolah Evolution 15 sleeps much cooler thanks to its numerous cooling features.
First, it features a heat-dissipating organic cotton cover and a plush Euro topper that keeps the surface from retaining excess heat and moisture at night. A coil support system further promotes maximum air circulation for a cool night's sleep.
Other features that make this mattress stand out include:
- Zoned coil support system offers extra midsection support
- Luxuriously responsive surface feel
- Sturdy edge support for both sitting and sleeping
If you're looking for a pressure-relieving mattress with a luxurious feel that offers nice body support, responsive pressure point relief, excellent temperature regulation, and long-term durability, the Nolah Evolution 15 is the perfect NapQueen alternative.

Closing Thoughts
Overall, I think the NapQueen Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a fantastic pick for average-weight and lightweight side sleepers who should enjoy its plush yet supportive feel. It delivers excellent pressure relief around the shoulders and hips, allowing you to feel the foam material contouring at these parts.
Back sleepers weighing less than 230 pounds should also love NapQueen's medium firmness feel. Moreover, NapQueen wins our trust through its certifications, sustainable practices, and positive customer reviews. So, if you're seeking the perfect balance between unparalleled comfort and a good night's sleep, the NapQueen Mattress is worth a try.
