Founded in 2015, Helix is among the pioneers of the bed-in-a-box mattress movement. It has more than a dozen mattress versions that target the needs of a wide range of sleepers.
In this Helix Mattress review, I'll examine each of the standard Helix mattresses and give an overview of their Luxe versions to help you decide which option might suit your needs. I'll also highlight the results of our two-stage review process to give you a clear picture of how it feels to sleep on a Helix Mattress.

Mattress Construction
The Helix Midnight boasts a soft, stretchy Breathe knit cover that helps promote maximum airflow. Hot sleepers also have an option of upgrading to the GlacioTex Cooling Pillow Top to enhance their mattress' cooling performance. The support layer comprises 1,000 individually wrapped coils that help support the body and add a bouncy feel to the surface so you don't feel stuck.
Mattress Performance
The Helix Midnight Mattress felt like a 7/10 on our firmness scale, which is slightly firmer than the mattress industry standard of support while the comfort layer feels soft to the touch.
As an average-weight side sleeper, I found the standard Midnight a nice pick for my sleep position as it didn't put too much pressure on my hips, shoulders, and other sensitive joints. However, I wouldn't recommend either of the Midnight versions for strict stomach sleepers, as they need a firmer bed that can offer proper spinal support.
The Helix Midnight Mattress isolates motion quite well, especially for a hybrid mattress. Its Memory Plus Foam layer keeps too much motion from transferring from one side of the mattress to the other, making this Helix mattress an ideal pick for couples.
This mattress also boasts excellent edge support. If you often share your bed with your partner, you should be able to sleep or sit toward the edge of the mattress without rolling off.
The Helix Midnight features a sturdy pocketed coil system and plush memory foam to offer a stellar combination of body support and pressure relief.
Looking at its overall materials and hybrid construction, the Helix Midnight appears to be a durable bed. While it depends on your size and how you use your bed, I expect it to last about 10 years.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Midnight is currently on offer, going for $1,099. Each purchase comes with a free Dream Pillow set. It boasts a 10-year limited warranty and a 100-night sleep trial that enables buyers to try their mattress out and see whether it's a perfect fit for them. If it doesn't suit your needs, you can return it for a refund during this period. However, you'll have to wait for 30 days before you initiate a return.
Helix Midnight Luxe
If you prefer a more defined Helix Midnight version, try the Helix Midnight Luxe. It’s 2 inches taller, and features zoned lumbar support and a premium quilted pillow top with the option of a GlacioTex Cooling Cover or a TENCEL cover.
Helix Sunset Mattress
The softest mattress in the Helix product line, the Helix Sunset features a plush Copper Gel Memory Foam layer for deep body contouring and pressure relief. Memory foam lovers will like its classic “sinking” effect, which is excellent at cradling the body, making them feel as if they're sleeping “in” the mattress.

The Helix Sunset comes with a stretchy cover that's breathable and airy to prevent heat buildup. Its copper gel memory foam layer also ensures hot sleepers stay cool at night. The Helix Sunset also uses individually wrapped coils in its support system for support, stability, and bounce.
Mattress Performance
We gave the Helix Sunset a 5.5/10 on our firmness scale. Compared to the industry standard for medium firmness (6.5/10), it’s clear that this mattress is quite soft.
The Helix Sunset Mattress felt great when I slept on my side. However, because it's a very soft mattress, it wasn't supportive enough for stomach and back sleeping.
This Helix mattress really performed well when it came to motion isolation. It did an excellent task of dissipating movement evenly across the sleep surface, meaning couples shouldn't be woken up at night by their partner's movements.
Another thing that I loved about the Helix Sunset was how its foam layers relieved pressure around my hips, shoulders, and lower back. That's why I'd recommend this plush and gentle bed to side sleepers, as it would offer them the comfort and deep pressure relief that they need.
The Helix Sunset Mattress boasts reinforced edges that help deliver extra bolstering and support at the perimeter of your mattress. Its support layer keeps the surface from sagging too much when sleeping or sitting along the perimeter.
As a hybrid mattress, the Helix Sunset features a sturdy pocketed coil system that holds up pretty well,. making it a durable mattress.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Sunset usually goes for $1,373.80 for the queen-size model. You can take advantage of their current offer and purchase this plush mattress at 20% off its normal price. Helix ships all its Sunset mattresses to the 50 states for free and for a $250 charge to most Canadian provinces. Each purchase comes with a 10-year warranty and a 100-night sleep trial that allows you to return the mattress within this trial period for a refund. However, you must use the Helix Sunset for at least 30 days before you can initiate a return.
If you're a heavyweight sleeper or a strict hot sleeper, you may want to check out the Helix Sunset Luxe.
Helix Sunset Luxe
This 14-inch thick hybrid model features a gel top that dissipates heat and cradles the body. Its zoned support core and contouring foam layers are good at relieving pressure around sensitive and painful pressure points. This makes it a perfect match for couples and back sleepers.
Helix Twilight Mattress
The Helix Twilight is among the brand's firmer models, making it an ideal pick for back and stomach sleepers. It features a firm coil system and plush memory foam for an interesting combination of overall body support and comfort.

Mattress Construction
The Helix Twilight is a 12-inch thick hybrid mattress with four layers. The uppermost layer comprises Helix's proprietary Memory Plus Foam. This is a highly dense layer with a firm feel. Up next is a High-Grade polyfoam transition layer. This section is made of a durable and firm polyurethane foam layer. Underneath it lies a support system comprising individually wrapped coils for targeted support. Special coils are also found around the edges of the mattress for edge support. Lastly, we've got the base of the Helix Twilight, which comprises a durable and high-density DuraDense Foam layer.
Mattress Performance
We gave this bed a 7/10, which makes it a firmer-than-average mattress. Keep in mind that firmness is subjective, so depending on your weight and unique preferences, you might rank this bed a touch softer or firmer.
As a firm mattress, the Helix Twilight is a perfect match for back sleepers who need more body support. And thanks to its supportive feel, most stomach sleepers should also experience enough spinal support when sleeping on this mattress. Those who prefer sleeping on their side may want to opt for a softer model, such as the Helix Sunset.
Despite the Helix Twilight being a firm and bouncy mattress, it does an excellent task of minimizing motion transfer across the sleep surface. The memory foam layer at the top absorbs movement, preventing it from transferring to other parts of the bed.
This firm Helix mattress boasts solid edge support, thanks to its individually wrapped coil support system. You can rest assured you'll feel secure while sleeping or sitting near the edge of the mattress.
Mattress Offers
A queen-size Helix Twilight Mattress costs about $1,099. The Helix Twilight has a 10-year limited warranty that covers all manufacturing defects. However, this warranty is void if you use the incorrect frame or mistreat the mattress. Shoppers have 100 nights to test out their mattresses and decide whether or not it's the right model for them. You can return the mattress for a full refund after a 30-day break-in period if you don't think it's working for you.
Helix Twilight Luxe Mattress
If you need a much more supportive hybrid mattress that will keep you cool during warm nights, the Twilight Luxe might be the bed of your dreams. It is 2 inches taller than the standard version and features a zoned lumbar support system for enhanced contouring. The firmer top layers are designed to give sleepers the firm feel they need and relieve pressure around the hips and shoulders.
Helix Moonlight Mattress
The Helix Moonlight Mattress is an ideal pick for back and side sleepers thanks to its plush and pressure-relieving comfort. Its plush feel cradles and cushions painful pressure points, making this mattress an excellent choice for individuals who suffer from hip and shoulder pain.

Mattress Construction
As a hybrid mattress, the Helix Moonlight combines pocketed coils with foam layers for a soft and bouncy feel. It features a Light Breathe Knit cover made of polyester to give the surface a nice, breathable feel. Beneath it is a comfort layer made of Helix Dynamic Foam combined with a High-Grade Helix Responsive Foam. The transition layer also features a High-Grade Helix Responsive Foam but with a lower IFD. Like other Helix mattresses, this model has individually wrapped coils at the support and around the perimeter of the bed. Underneath these coils, there is a base layer made of high-density DuraDense Foam for extra support and durability.
Mattress Performance
The Helix Moonlight has a firmness rating of about 5/10 on the firmness scale, meaning it's quite a soft model that should cushion the body for extra pressure relief.
As a soft mattress, the Helix Moonlight is a perfect match for side sleeping. Back sleepers and stomach sleepers will be better off with a firmer bed that can offer more spinal support, such as the Helix Midnight Mattress.
Couples generally want a sleep surface that combines motion isolation and bounce. The Helix Moonlight isolates motion pretty well, and it also has some nice bounce, making it easy to move around and change positions during sex.
The Helix Moonlight Mattress has strong edge support, thanks to its hybrid design and a coil support system. You should feel secure while sleeping near the edge of this mattress.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Moonlight Mattress is competitively priced, boasting a lower price tag than the average for a hybrid mattress. You can purchase the queen version for $1,099. As a bed-in-a-box mattress, these Helix mattresses ship for free while compressed in a box. A $250 shipping fee and a Customs Tax apply to all orders to Canada. Each mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial period and a 10-year warranty against structural defects. A 30-night break-in period is needed before your bed becomes eligible for a return.
If you prioritize comfort and pressure relief and want a sleep surface with more cooling capabilities, the Helix Moonlight Luxe might be your holy grail.
Helix Moonlight Luxe
The Helix Moonlight Luxe features a TENCEL cover for temperature control and a pillow-top layer for additional comfort. Helix also provides an optional GlacioTex Cooling Cover, which is specially designed to enhance temperature regulation. Plus, the Helix Moonlight Luxe bolsters the strength around the perimeters of the bed and adds zoned support coils for reinforcement for the lower back and extra body contouring under the shoulders.
Helix Dusk Mattress

Mattress Construction
The Helix Dusk Mattress features a light and stretchy cover to encourage airflow for better cooling. Its Body Shape support layer features numerous coils that cradle the sleeper’s body and offers excellent edge support. These Helix Dusk mattresses are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they're safe for kids and individuals with sensitivities.
Mattress Performance
Depending on your weight and personal preference, you may find that this mattress is better suited for your sleep needs. We gave the Helix Dusk Mattress a 6/10 on our firmness scale.
Lightweight and average-weight stomach sleepers will find this mattress firmness level comfortable and supportive. This mattress is also firm enough to relieve pressure on the shoulders and hips of back sleepers. However, heavyweight stomach sleepers might need a firmer alternative.
Generally, the Helix Dusk Mattress isn't an ideal pick for couples as it features a bouncy latex-foam alternative in its comfort layer. This makes it easy for movement to transfer across the mattress and cause nighttime disturbance.
Edge support is another area where this mattress excels. Its edges hold up pretty well, thanks to the coil support layer that makes up most of this bed’s hybrid construction.
Mattress Offers
Helix usually offers discounts and flash sales that can be applied during checkout. Shoppers can often catch these deals during holidays. There's also a 15% discount for veterans, active military members, students, and even teachers. Currently, the Helix Dusk is going for $1,099 for the queen-size model. It ships free to all 50 states and at a fee to Canadian provinces. Each purchase is covered by a 10-year warranty and a 100-night sleep trial period. To get a full refund, you must try out your mattress for at least 30 nights before returning it.
Helix Dusk Luxe

It's a medium hybrid bed with high-level support for stomach and back sleepers. Its conforming foams and zoned lumbar support ensure a high level of painful pressure point relief, especially for couples with different sleep needs.

What We Like
What We Don't Like
Mattress Construction
The Helix Dawn is covered in a soft-to-the-touch cover that is breathable to promote airflow and keep hot sleepers cool at night. This mattress' primary comfort layer consists of the Helix Dynamic Foam, the brand's proprietary foam layer that contours to the body and provide enough pressure relief. The Helix Dawn’s support layer consists of individually wrapped coils that limit motion transfer and give the surface more bounce and lift.
Mattress Performance
We ranked the Helix Dawn Mattress around a 7.5/10 on our firmness scale, which suggests it is quite firm.
Given that the Helix Dawn is a firm bed, it should keep the back sleeper’s spine well-supported and aligned. Plus, its firm, supportive nature will help ensure stomach sleepers’ hips stay elevated and aligned with your spine. Side sleepers, on the other hand, might want to opt for a softer Helix model like the Helix Moonlight.
This mattress comes with individually wrapped coils and foam layers that work together to ensure your sleep surface isolates motion quite well. However, sensitive sleepers might still feel their partner's movements at night, this being a bouncy and hybrid mattress.
This mattress also delivers decent edge support. Its supportive coils and reinforced perimeter will help you feel secure while sleeping and sitting near the edge of the bed.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Dawn usually goes for $1,373.80 for the queen-size model. However, it's currently on offer, going for $1,099. Every Helix Dawn bed is covered by a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. You have an option of returning your Helix Dawn Mattress for a full refund after a 30-day break-in period.
Helix Dawn Luxe

What We Like
What We Don't Like
Mattress Construction
The Helix Plus features a sleek and smooth TENCEL fabric cover well-known for its moisture-wicking properties. Its Firm Memory Foam layer acts as the transition layer, offering heavyweight sleepers the spinal support they need. Individually wrapped coils form the support layer of the Helix Plus. These coils are also reinforced around the perimeter of the bed for improved edge support.
Mattress Performance
The Helix Plus mattress' combination of foam layers and a coil support system gives it a firm, supportive feel that's ideal for heavier sleepers and individuals who prefer a denser feel. The coils at the support core give the Helix Plus its bounciness and responsive nature, while the foam at the uppermost layers offers light contouring around sensitive body parts, such as the hips and shoulders.
Overall, I don't consider the Plus a great choice for lightweight sleepers. Its comfort layers are too dense for these sleepers to compress, which might limit the pressure relief and cushioning they'll experience.
Helix Plus’ comfort system comprises memory and polyfoam layers well-known for their motion-isolating properties. They absorb movement, keeping it from traveling across the mattress.
The pocketed coils and the high-density polyfoam wrapping around the perimeter of the bed make the edges strong enough to keep the bed from sagging excessively when you sleep on the edge. However, some heavyweight sleepers might notice compression when sleeping or sitting on the mattress' edge.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Plus boasts a price range of $1,199 to $1,498 for the queen-size model. Your purchase comes with a free Dream Pillow set to help you customize your sleep environment further for a good night's sleep. Helix offers free shipping for all their Helix Plus mattresses for shoppers in all 50 states. The mattress is vacuum-packed in a box and shipped via FedEx. The Birch by Helix boasts natural materials that don't contain any toxic chemicals. Plus, it features GOTS and GREENGUARD GOLD certifications, meaning it doesn't have any pesticides, flame retardants, and other harmful materials. Its organic cotton cover feels soft, stretchy and breathable to dissipate heat. It also features an organic wool layer and a pressure-relieving Talalay latex layer that cushions sensitive body parts. At the core, we've got individually wrapped coils that are highly supportive.
Mattress Performance
I rated the Birch by Helix a 6.5/10 on our firmness scale, which means it's a medium-firm mattress. The versatility of its firmness level, topped with the soft Talalay latex layer, should work well for a wide variety of sleepers.
I think it's mostly a perfect alternative for average-weight to heavyweight stomach and back sleepers. However, if you're a lightweight sleeper, you might find this bed too firm as it won't offer enough sinkage to cushion and cradle your body.
The Birch Natural may not be good at isolating motion due to its coil construction and buoyant latex layers. If you share your bed with your partner, you may be disturbed by their movements at night.
The Birch by Helix also features reinforced edges that give sleepers extra support when they sit or sleep along the perimeter of the mattress. Most heavier sleepers should feel nicely supported on the edges without worrying about falling off.
Mattress Offers
The Birch Natural costs about $2,120 for the queen-size mattress. Shipping is free throughout the United States. Sleepers get up to 100 nights to test their new bed and decide whether it suits their needs. If you find it unfit for your preferences, you'll have to wait at least 30 days before returning it. Those who keep their mattress receive a 25-year warranty.
Birch Luxe
Looking for a bouncy bed with a firm feel? You may want to check out the Birch Luxe Mattress. It features two additional comfort layers made of organic wool. These layers give your mattress a higher loft and more body cushioning than the standard version. Plus, it boasts enhanced edge support and targeted lumbar support for added durability.

Mattress Construction
This flippable hybrid mattress has a soft hypoallergenic Tencel cover on both sides that sleeps cool. Beneath it is a fire-retardant layer that reduces flammability. The comfort layer of the medium soft side features gel-infused memory foam that keeps the mattress from retaining excess heat. A high-density pocketed coil support layer bolsters both sides.
Mattress Performance
The Helix Kids Mattress boasts two firmness levels in one. The soft side, designed for kids between 8 and 12 years old, feels like 4/10. The firmer side, on the other hand, feels like 6/10, making it an ideal option for children between 3 and 7 years old.
The Helix Kids design prevents movement from transferring across the surface, helping kids who share their mattresses to sleep more peacefully. If your kids wake up easily at night, I'd recommend sleeping on the softer side of the bed, as it allows more motion isolation.
Pocketed coil reinforcement around the perimeter of this bed helps improve its edge support. In addition to keeping your children safe while sleeping on the edges, good edge support enables the kids to use the entirety of their sleep surface, including the edges, without experiencing sagging.
Mattress Offers
The Helix Kids is relatively inexpensive compared to other hybrid mattresses with a similar design. Expect to pay about $600 for the twin model. Shipping is free for all orders within the United States. However, Canadian shipments include customs tax and a shipping fee. Each Helix Kids Mattress is covered by a 10-year limited warranty and a 100-night trial. If you're unsatisfied with this bed’s performance, you can use this trial period to return your kid's mattress for a full refund.
