Overall Thoughts:
Purple Mattresses are made from hyper-elastic polymer that provides equalized pressure all around for optimal spine alignment and support. The motion isolation technology makes this mattress ideal for sleeping next to a partner, since your movements won’t translate on their side and disturb them.
Unlike a lot of memory foam mattresses, the Purple Mattress is actually temperature neutral, meaning that it actually neutralizes your own body heat while you’re lying on it to keep you feeling cool and comfortable throughout the night. This is possible through the breathable channels in the Free Air Flow Technology, which prevent the mattress from trapping and holding the heat that your body gives off. A lot of other memory foam mattresses cause you to overheat and sweat throughout the night, so this feature is fantastic.
The overall feel of this mattress is on the firmer side , but a good in between of softness and support, which makes it a great option for back and side sleepers. The actual firmness mostly comes from Base and Transitional layers, which are the bottom most layers, this is what gives you that solid support. The top Cover and Comfort Layer are what gives it the soft, breathable feel, especially the unique grid structure in the Comfort Layer. It also has a pretty good bounce compared to similar mattresses, making a great transition from traditional box spring mattresses.
This mattress gives you a really unique and high quality sleeping experience. The feeling you get when laying on it is like you’re floating on top. Although, it is important to keep in mind that the experience will depend on your body composition. The support is going to be best for those 230lbs and under.

Overall Thoughts:
This mattress gives you a truly customized level of support and comfort. It’s specially designed to adapt to your body’s shape, temperature and weight, and adjust accordingly to help relieve the pressure points that lead to soreness and poor sleep. Tempur-pedic actually had the TEMPUR-Cloud pressure-tested and found that the Comfort layer relieves 40% more pressure than similar mattresses.
This is a memory foam mattress that’s made from four foam layers. The top Cover Layer has a very soft, cushiony feel that’s breathable and resilient. This is important because it means that it will return to its original shape when you move. The Comfort Layer provides support and contouring, but not too quickly to prevent you from feeling like you’re falling into the mattress. The two bottom layers of foam are quite a bit firmer to support and shape the entire mattress.
If you’re sleeping with a partner this is a great mattress for isolating motion. Meaning if you or your partner are moving around the other person won’t be disturbed. This is especially important if you have different sleeping schedules or one of you moves around a lot in your sleep. Since it’s a good average of softness and support, this is ideal for side, back and combination sleepers, and firmness is helpful for those with chronic back pain.
Memory foam mattresses are known for holding heat and making your sweat throughout the night, but this one is actually very breathable and has excellent airflow throughout the top layer, which helps to prevent heat from building up.

Why the Purple Mattress Stands Out
The Purple Mattress is newer to the market, and offers some very innovative technology that makes it a great competitor to the Tempurpedic mattresses. The interior of the Purple Mattress is made up of three different layers and the layers are all wrapped in a knit cover.
The unique Purple Grid is what really makes this mattress stand out. It’s made from the patented hyper-elastic polymer, which is a sort of silicone or gel texture, and is essentially a giant grid composed of tiny squares. These squares help the top later compress under pressure, and quickly return the original shape once the pressure is removed. This makes it very durable and resilient, so it can quickly react and form to the contours of your body.
Compared to memory foam, the Purple Mattress has more of a buoyant and bouncy gel-like feel, as opposed to the cushion or pillowiness of a foam mattress. When it comes to firmness, this is a right in the middle, making a great starter mattress for someone who doesn’t quite know what they prefer or are still figuring out their sleeping habits. It’s a great balance of support and relief on the common pressure points.

What You Should Know About Tempuredic Mattresses
Tempurpedic is a very well-known brand that’s been around for a while. They make memory foam mattresses that are known for supporting and hugging your body. This is going to be the best mattress for you if you’re looking for that dense, memory foam texture. Compared to the Purple Mattress, the response time on these Tempurpedics is quite a bit slower, so once you apply pressure it does take a little longer to spring back. They typically run medium-firm to firm.
Tempurpedic has a wide variety of different models to choose from, the edge support on all of their mattresses is very impressive compared to other similar mattresses. You don’t feel like you’re going to roll off the side if you get too close to the edge. Additionally, Tempurpedics are world famous for their motion isolation, so if you or your partner toss and turn or wake up before the other, this is a great feature that you know you can trust.
Considerations When Choosing Between the Two
When deciding which mattress to go with, there are some things to consider to ensure you’re making the best choice.
Firmness
Everyone is different when it comes to their firmness preferences. If you know you don’t want something too firm or aren’t quite sure, the Purple Mattress is a great option. If you already know that you want a lot of support and like a firm mattress, you might go with the Tempurpedic.
Keep in mind that your partner might have a different preference than you, so it’s a good idea to find one that you both will love.
Motion Isolation
If you’re sleeping alone, this might not be as important to you. But if you’re sleeping with a partner, this might be essential to quality sleep. While the Purple Mattress has above average isolation of motion, Tempurpedic is specially designed for this and is going to be the best when it comes to preventing motion transfer.
Temperature
Although the Tempur-Cloud does a good job of keeping you cooler throughout the night, it’s worth mentioning that memory foam mattresses are notorious for sleeping hot. If you live in a hot climate or just know you’re already a hot sleeper, keep this in mind.
The Purple Mattress’ unique grid layer allows for truly free flowing air that is extremely effective at preventing and eliminating trapped heat. Compared to the Tempurpedic mattresses, the Purple Mattress is going to be the cooler option.
Bounce
Resilience and bounce are going to affect how easy it is to move around in the bed, as opposed to feeling like you’re stuck. This is especially important if you’re a combination sleeper and change positions throughout the night, so you can more comfortably without having your sleep disturbed.
The Purple Mattress is going to have a more bouncy, resilient feel than most memory foam mattresses, including Tempurpedic. This is due to the hyper elastic polymer material and the grid. Tempurpedic will be slower at returning to its shape, which is fine if you don’t move much in your sleep.

They’re both quite different, but this guide will help you navigate through the unique features and choose the one that will help you get the best night’s sleep.
