Nectar Queen Mattress

What We Like

  • Medium firm feel is a perfect balance of soft and firm
  • Includes full year trial and ‘forever’ guarantee
  • Supportive, responsive medical grade foam

What We Don't Like

  • Fairly heavy in package (may need two people to set up)

Overall Thoughts:

The Nectar mattress is comfortable and convenient, especially for people that change up their sleeping position during the night. It does a great job of gently conforming to your body, but without feeling too soft. There’s a good firm feeling too, making it perfect for taking the pain out of pressure points.

It’s different from a typical foam mattress because it uses hyper elastic, medical grade memory foam. The result is a comfortable, well balanced feel that isn’t hard, but gives you just enough support. The movement isolation is pretty impressive too. Nectar mattress is one of those mattresses where you actually can set a glass of water on one side and bounce around on the other. It won’t tip over and spill, so you know there’s no motion transfer. If you or your partner is a light sleeper, this mattress becomes a total game changer.

The mattress moves to support your body form and weight quickly. Even if you usually roll around and switch positions through the night, you won’t notice a difference in the support. The other nice thing about this Nectar mattress is that it’s so easy to set up. While it’s a little heavy in the package, it quickly expands to the right size when opened. With two pillows designed to match the mattress included, it’s pretty much a whole sleep makeover. The temperature stays fairly neutral, so you won’t wake up in a sweat pool either.

The best way to explain this mattress is to say no matter how you sleep, it feels comfortable. Even stomach and side sleepers can get a great night’s sleep with the Nectar mattress.

Nectar Premium Copper mattress

What We Like

  • Excellent for side sleeper
  • Good temperature regulation
  • Premium foam conforms well with the body
  • Offers good motion isolation

What We Don't Like

  • Not ideal for sleepers weighing more than 130 pounds

Overall Thoughts:

This Nectar mattress is the company's latest model with sophisticated cooling features to prevent overheating in bed at night and advanced support layers. Nectar mattress memory foam feels primarily targets hot sleepers who fancy the classic cushioning of a memory foam mattress.

A typical all foam mattress is known to sleep hot since they retain excessive heat, creating an uncomfortable sleep surface, especially for victims of overheating. However, the premium copper in this mattress utilizes an advanced cooling technology to help you sleep comfortably and wake up in the morning sweat-free.

Motion isolation is also another perk this mattress comes with. So if your partner is prone to restlessness at night or if both of you have different sleep habits or schedules, then you can be sure of an undisturbed night's rest. The weak edge support in this Nectar mattress may be a rude awakening, especially for individuals who tend to roll a lot while sleeping.

Purple Queen Mattress

What We Like

  • Feels nice and airy and the memory foam doesn’t get too warm
  • Grid layer creates a responsive, flexible feel
  • Provides better alignment and support for the spine compared to others

What We Don't Like

  • Takes a while for smell to dissipate

Overall Thoughts:

The Purple mattress feels great, but it really does wonders for people that struggle with back pain. One of the biggest strengths of this mattress is the way it keeps your spine aligned, which prevents an aching back when you wake up. It’s designed to minimize the strain on sensitive pressure points, while also supporting all the areas that need it most. You don’t really feel the pressure from the support in this Purple mattress, so you can drift off without noticing there’s a mattress beneath you.

The mattress is designed with a special hyper elastic grid that provides a ton of benefits. First, the support is really nice, and it’s dynamic enough to adjust to your body. The other nice thing about the grid is that it allows plenty of airflow. Memory foam mattresses are somewhat notorious for trapping heat. For hot sleepers, that can be an absolute deal breaker. With the grid, this memory foam mattress stays nice and cool since air flows through to disperse body heat.

While you may not seek out an antimicrobial mattress, it’s definitely a huge benefit. The Purple mattress is naturally antimicrobial, no chemicals needed. Mattresses can last a long time, and in that time, they can also absorb a lot of bacteria, dust and dirt. With its antimicrobial properties, you can rest easy knowing your mattress is still fresh with each new year.

As a bonus, these mattresses also last up to a decade longer than others, so your investment lasts even longer. If you’re still not sure if it’s right for you, take advantage of the 100 night trial and try it out yourself.

Purple Hybrid Premium 4 Mattress

What We Like

  • Unique responsiveness
  • For all types of sleepers
  • Premium gel-like feel
  • Excellent pressure relief
  • Comes with $300 worth accessories

What We Don't Like

  • Unfit for those who prefer the feel of traditional memory foam beds

Overall Thoughts:

Of all the Purple beds, this hybrid premium model is the deepest. Compared to other Purple mattress models, which have 2 inches of Purple Grid, this one has 4 inches.

Construction-wise, this mattress has a total of 4 layers. At the base is the 4-inch proprietary hyper elastic polymer layer responsible for the mattress, overall support, pressure relief, and unique soft feel. On top of this layer is the 0.5-inch polyurethane foam layer which acts as a transition from the below coils.

The 7.5-inch pocketed coils layer comes next, and it serves as the mattress's main support. Final layer is the 1-inch of polyurethane foam layer which basically serves as the mattress's foundation. Most Purple mattresses are hypoallergenic which makes them ideal for allergy sufferers and resistant to dust mites.

As for sleeping positions, the purple hybrid premier mattress is a flagship for side sleepers. That's because its thick top layer offers an immersive pressure-relieving experience. But if you're more of a back or stomach sleeper, you can bet on excellent support from the mattress as well.

Some great perks to save you money include a $300 instant gift of choice. Purple will give you the chance to select any items up to that amount when you buy these Purple mattresses. This will help you save on items like pillows and bedsheets.

Casper Queen Mattress

What We Like

  • More budget friendly than others
  • Firm edge support
  • Easy to set up
  • 100 Nights free trial
  • Cool enough for hot sleepers

What We Don't Like

  • Gets a little warm

Overall Thoughts:

One of the hardest parts about buying a mattress is making sure it feels right with your body type. A medium firm mattress may feel too soft for a larger person. Likewise, a smaller person may find the exact same mattress much too hard. Of course, it's a relief to see there’s finally a mattress that has the same great feel, no matter your weight or height. You don’t lose any of the support your back needs, either. Even people that struggle mainly with lower back pain get plenty of relief, since it perfectly supports your hips.

Most ‘bed in a box’ style mattresses have a major weakness - edge support. Want to sit on your bed to put on your socks or tie your shoes? With most mattresses, you’ll be sliding off before you get a single sock on. With the Casper mattress? Go ahead; in fact lace up those really tough boots too. All of that’s to say, their edge support is great, which is a rare bonus in this market.

Casper mattress is one of those mattresses you don’t have to take a week to ‘get used to.’ If you usually struggle with getting to sleep, you’ll find that you won’t with a Casper mattress. You can start sleeping on it quicker than other mattresses you order online too. For some mattresses, even 48 hours doesn’t seem like enough time to fully inflate.

With this memory foam mattress though, it seems like it’s only a few minutes after you unpack it and it reaches full size. Plus, there’s not that terrible, strong factory smell like with other mattresses, so you can actually enjoy sleeping on it the first night. It’s more affordable than other options, and it comes with a good 10 year limited warranty and 100 nights free trial.

Casper Wave Mattress

What We Like

  • Accommodates all sleeping positions
  • Offers excellent support
  • Great motion isolation
  • Comes with a 10-year warranty
  • The company offers free shipping

What We Don't Like

  • Unfit choice for people on a budget

Overall Thoughts:

One of the significantly recognized bed in a box mattresses is the Casper Wave Hybrid mattress. Its super soft mattress cover is gray. Plus, it's removable and relatively easy to clean. So in case of accidental spills, say, warm milk cleaning it with a mild detergent should do the trick.

Underneath this cover is 5 layers making up the mattress's 13-inch thickness. Besides its unusual thickness, this hybrid mattress possesses advanced features separating it from other average mattresses. The mattress has a support foam layer serving as its foundation. The polyfoam gel-pods layer promotes healthy spinal alignment, courtesy of its strategic position at the core and the lower back.

Zoned memory foam is divided into 3 for more support and pressure relief, while the natural latex foam "Airfoam" -designed layer serves as the mattress's breathable transition layer. In addition, this layer also adds slightly to the mattress's overall responsiveness. Serving as the mattress's primary comfort is the perforated comfort foam layer. With its thin cooling gel coating, this layer significantly helped regulate temperature.

Comparing Mattress Layers & Construction

Purple Mattress Layers:

The Purple mattress starts with a polyurethane base layer which makes the mattress stronger and more supportive. The middle layer adds some softness, and creates a transition between the other layers. The upper layer is what makes the Purple mattress unique. It has a hyper elastic grid that creates versatile support and ventilation.

Casper Mattress Layers:

The Casper mattress has several layers, starting with the base layer that supports the others. The next layer adds extra support for shoulders and hips. After that, there’s a thinner layer of memory foam that forms to the shape of your body. The upper layer is designed for comfort and responsiveness.

Nectar Mattress Layers:

The base layer of the Nectar mattress is the thickest, and provides a foundation and support for the other layers. The middle layer is about 1 ½ inches thick, and creates the ‘responsiveness’ in the mattress. The upper layer is made of special memory foam that cradles your form and keeps the mattress cool.

Firmness Comparison

Casper Firmness:

Casper is right in between firm and soft, although that also changes somewhat with height and weight. Smaller users often find the mattress firmer. Larger users find it a littler softer, although still supportive.

Nectar Firmness:

Nectar mattresses are the ideal medium firm, rated between 5.5 and 7. There’s not too much weight on any pressure points, but it does keep the spine aligned.

Purple Firmness:

Purple mattresses often feel more on the firm side to lighter people. Because it’s designed with a grid that stretches and supports, larger people have an easier time getting the mattress to feel medium firm.

Edge Support Comparison

Casper Edge Support:

Casper mattresses have fairly strong edge support. There is some sloping, but it isn’t significant. The more even spread the weight is, the better the support.

Nectar Edge Support:

While Nectar mattresses tend to roll slightly at the edges, they still have fair support. While the top layer collapses a bit, the supporting layers underneath stay in place.

Purple Edge Support:

Purple mattresses often lose some of their edge support over time. The upper layer, which adds softness, dips when sitting on an edge. However, if you’re sleeping stretched out, the roll off feeling isn’t noticeable.

Overall Comparison

These are all great mattresses in their own ways. That said, different sleepers have different preferences, so there’s a best fit for anyone. How you sleep (position) also makes a big difference. If you sleep on your stomach or sides, the Purple mattress is great. For back sleepers, the Nectar and Casper mattresses are ideal.

Casper Wave vs. Casper Original Mattress

Though these two may have a perfect foam feel balance, Casper Original is still firmer and denser than the Casper Wave. So, as long as your body weight is above average, it's perfectly fine to go for the Original Casper. Lightweight individuals should consider opting for Casper Wave.

Courtesy of its unique top layer, Casper Wave performs better than Original in the motion isolation department. However, the difference is minimal, so generally, they perform well in motion transfer.

Purple Hybrid premium 4 vs. The Purple Mattress

Generally, the GelFlex Grid layer is a common feature on these two mattresses. This not only makes the purple mattresses durable but also excellent temperature regulators.

Regarding firmness because of its coil layer, the Purple hybrid gives a more dynamic response in conjunction with a firm feel than The Purple mattress. Comfort largely depends on the sleeper's weight. Generally, you'll feel more weightless if the Grid layer is thicker.

Nectar Memory foam vs. Nectar premium Copper mattress

Each mattress cover of these two mattresses uniquely differs from one another. Nectar copper has copper fiber woven throughout the cover to provide optimal cooling performance. On the other hand, the Nectar memory foam's cover is standard but soft and breathable enough to dissipate heat throughout the mattress. However, the nectar premium mattress cover is still superior.

Nectar memory foam beats the Copper premium on the side of motion transfer. However, their performance is still almost the same regarding motion transfer but with a tiny difference.
