A Quick Look: Nectar Vs. Purple Vs. Casper

What We Don't Like
Overall Thoughts:
The Nectar mattress is comfortable and convenient, especially for people that change up their sleeping position. It does a great job of gently conforming to your body, but without feeling too soft. There’s a good firm feeling too, making it perfect for taking the pain out of pressure points.
It’s different from a typical foam mattress because it uses hyper elastic, medical grade memory foam. The result is a comfortable, well balanced feel that isn’t hard, but gives you just enough support. The movement isolation is pretty impressive too. It’s one of those mattresses where you actually can set a glass of water on one side and bounce around on the other. It won’t tip over and spill, so you know there’s no motion transfer. If you or your partner is a light sleeper, it’s a game changer.
The mattress moves to support your form and weight quickly. Even if you usually roll around and switch positions through the night, you won’t notice a difference in the support. The other nice thing about this Nectar mattress is that it’s so easy to set up. While it’s a little heavy in the package, it quickly expands to the right size when opened. With two pillows designed to match the mattress included, it’s pretty much a whole sleep makeover. The temperature stays fairly neutral, so you won’t wake up in a sweat either.
The best way to explain this mattress is to say no matter how you sleep, it feels comfortable. Even stomach and side sleepers can get a great night’s sleep.

Overall Thoughts:
The Purple mattress feels great, but it really does wonders for people that struggle with back pain. One of the biggest strengths of this mattress is the way it keeps your spine aligned, which prevents an aching back when you wake up. It’s designed to minimize the strain on sensitive pressure points, while also supporting all the areas that need it most. You don’t really feel the pressure from the support in the mattress, so you can drift off without noticing there’s a mattress beneath you.
The mattress is designed with a special hyper elastic grid that provides a ton of benefits. First, the support is really nice, and it’s dynamic enough to adjust to your body. The other nice thing about the grid is that it allows plenty of airflow. Memory foam mattresses are somewhat notorious for trapping heat. For hot sleepers, that can be an absolute deal breaker. With the grid, this memory foam mattress stays nice and cool since air flows through to disperse body heat.
While you may not seek out an antimicrobial mattress, it’s definitely a huge benefit. The Purple mattress is naturally antimicrobial, no chemicals needed. Mattresses can last a long time, and in that time, they can also absorb a lot of bacteria, dust and dirt. With its antimicrobial properties, you can rest easy knowing your mattress is still fresh with each new year.
As a bonus, these mattresses also last up to a decade longer than others, so your investment lasts even longer. If you’re still not sure if it’s right for you, take advantage of the 100 night trial and try it out yourself.

Overall Thoughts:
One of the hardest parts about buying a mattress is making sure it feels right with your body type. A medium firm mattress may feel too soft for a larger person. Likewise, a smaller person may find the exact same mattress much too hard. Of course, it's a relief to see there’s finally a mattress that has the same great feel, no matter your weight or height. You don’t lose any of the support your back needs, either. Even people that struggle mainly with lower back pain get plenty of relief, since it perfectly supports your hips.
Most ‘bed in a box’ style mattresses have a major weakness: edge support. Want to sit on your bed to put your socks on? With most mattresses, you’ll be sliding off before you get a single sock on. With the Casper mattress? Go ahead; in fact lace up those really tough boots too. All of that’s to say, the edge support is great, which is a rare bonus in this market.
It’s one of those mattresses you don’t have to take a week to ‘get used to.’ If you usually struggle with getting to sleep, you’ll find you don’t with a Casper mattress. You can start sleeping on it quicker than other mattresses you order online too. For some mattresses, even 48 hours doesn’t seem like enough time to fully inflate.
With this memory foam mattress though, it seems like it’s only a few minutes after you unpack it and it reaches full size. Plus, there’s not that terrible, strong factory smell like with other mattresses, so you can actually enjoy sleeping on it the first night. It’s more affordable than other options, and it comes with a good warranty too.
Comparing Mattress Layers & Construction
Purple Mattress Layers:
The Purple mattress starts with a polyurethane base layer which makes the mattress stronger and more supportive. The middle layer adds some softness, and creates a transition between the other layers. The upper layer is what makes the Purple mattress unique. It has a hyper elastic grid that creates versatile support and ventilation.

Casper Mattress Layers:
The Casper mattress has several layers, starting with the base layer that supports the others. The next layer adds extra support for shoulders and hips. After that, there’s a thinner layer of memory foam that forms to the shape of your body. The upper layer is designed for comfort and responsiveness.
Nectar Mattress Layers:
The base layer of the Nectar mattress is the thickest, and provides a foundation and support for the other layers. The middle layer is about 1 ½ inches thick, and creates the ‘responsiveness’ in the mattress. The upper layer is made of special memory foam that cradles your form and keeps the mattress cool.
Firmness Comparison
Casper Firmness:
Casper is right in between firm and soft, although that also changes somewhat with height and weight. Smaller users often find the mattress firmer. Larger users find it a littler softer, although still supportive.
Nectar Firmness:
Nectar mattresses are the ideal medium firm, rated between 5.5 and 7. There’s not too much weight on any pressure points, but it does keep the spine aligned.
Purple Firmness:
Purple mattresses often feel more on the firm side to lighter people. Because it’s designed with a grid that stretches and supports, larger people have an easier time getting the mattress to feel medium firm.

Edge Support Comparison
Casper Edge Support:
Casper mattresses have fairly strong edge support. There is some sloping, but it isn’t significant. The more even spread the weight is, the better the support.
Nectar Edge Support:
While Nectar mattresses tend to roll slightly at the edges, they still have fair support. While the top layer collapses a bit, the supporting layers underneath stay in place.
Purple Edge Support:
Purple mattresses often lose some of their edge support over time. The upper layer, which adds softness, dips when sitting on an edge. However, if you’re sleeping stretched out, the roll off feeling isn’t noticeable.
Overall Comparison
These are all great mattresses in their own ways. That said, different sleepers have different preferences, so there’s a best fit for anyone. How you sleep (position) also makes a big difference. If you sleep on your stomach or sides, the Purple mattress is great. For back sleepers, the Nectar and Casper mattresses are ideal.
