Casper is running a sale, active today November 21, 2024!
With its perforated open cell foam top layer, this Casper makes a great choice for hot sleepers residing in hot regions or preparing for a summer month. Also, thanks to its zoned memory foam system it excels in motion isolation.
Mattress Construction & Performance
At the very top, is the thin knit soft breathable cover with multiple perforations that facilitate efficient airflow throughout the surface of the Casper Mattress. Underneath this cover is super soft and responsive layer that's ventilated and open-celled to shield hot sleepers against overheating and night sweats. Finally at the bottom is the support layer made of high-density memory foam. This polyfoam layer prevents the mattress from sagging and gives it the necessary support it needs.
Now that we have a glimpse at what this mattress is, let's see how it performs in different areas.
Casper Original Mattress Firmness
When I tested the mattress for firmness level, sitting on it felt softer. However, it felt pretty much like a firmer mattress upon lying down on it and rolling around. I rated its firmness level at a 6.5/10, which makes it a medium firm bed.
Motion Isolation
Like any all-foam mattress, Casper Original lacks an innerspring and therefore has little to no bounce. When my partner and I tested it for motion isolation, the results exceeded our expectations. We could get in and out of bed without disturbing each other thanks to limited motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other. This makes the mattress a perfect fit for couples who often toss and turn in their sleep.
Sleeping position
Although suited for all sleeping positions, it's majorly ideal for back and side sleepers. Combination sleepers also stand to benefit from this mattress but primarily those who often shift between their back and side.
Pressure Relief
Another thing I liked about this Original Casper Mattress is how it delivers exquisite pressure relief. It conforms closely to the body by redistributing your body weight which helps relieve pressure points. In addition, thanks to its tri-zone memory foam layer, I enjoyed extra support around my midsection which prevented my hips from sinking deeper into the surface.
Responsiveness
Compared to any typical all-foam mattress, the Casper Original Mattress is a bit more responsive. So moving across the surface is easy. For utmost reassurance, memory foam mattresses are reputable for responding to movements slowly but thanks to Casper's firmer foam layer at the base, changing sleep positions will be a walk in the park. Another layer that gives it its excellent responsiveness is the polyfoam zone at the top comfort layers. Compared to many ordinary foam beds, the polyfoam material on this memory foam mattress springs back to shape more quickly.
Edge Support
If you often sit or sleep near the mattress edge and feel like you're going to fall, then you'll know that edge support is an important factor. Despite being an all-foam bed, this Casper model grants you the freedom to spread across the entire mattress surface. For individuals with sleep partners solid edge support is super important as you need the entire surface of the mattress. Despite my 230-pound weight, I slept soundly near the edge of this Casper memory foam Mattress. Upon sitting on it, its high-density base foam ensured I felt excellently supported and secure. Note that like many all-foam mattresses out there, you need to limit your sitting on its edge as it might cause uneven premature sagging. Also, if your weight and that of your partner differs significantly, rotate the mattress 180 degrees after 3 - 6 months.
Durability and Weight limit
The original Casper Mattress doesn't have a weight limit. It's made to accommodate all types of sleepers. So, depending on how much you weigh, this mattress will feel like a softer or firmer mattress.
As for durability, all Casper mattresses are made of high-quality materials including this original model. So you can rest assured Casper Original will last a long time before buying a new mattress. As an average three-layer foam mattress, it should last around 7 years. If taken care of excellently, it can grant you a lifespan of 10 years. Aside from rotating it, remember to deep clean it at least once a year and keep it free of bad spills.
Safety Info
All foams used to make Casper Mattresses are CertiPUR-US Certified—meaning it doesn't have heavy metals and ozone depleters. This factor makes this Casper Original mattress ideal for sleepers who often deal with asthma or allergies.
Like with many mattress models, unboxing Casper Original releases an off-gassing. And based on my assessment, this off-gassing isn't harmful as it doesn't contain dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, you're not supposed to use it immediately after unboxing it. We recommend keeping it in the open air for a day or two until the off-gassing fully dissipates.

Helix Midnight
Thanks to its medium-firm feel this helix midnight mattress suits quite many different types of sleepers. In the motion isolation department, it does remarkably well making it ideal for couples.
Mattress construction & Performance
This helix hybrid mattress comes wrapped in a soft breathable knit cover. The cover is also stretchy which helps promote further cooling. Immediately underneath the stretchy cover is the comfort layer. This layer's composition includes high-grade Helix Responsive Foam and Memory Plus Foam. The Helix helix-responsive foam acts as the mattress' transition layer that prevents sleepers from bottoming out on this Hybrid Mattress. On the other hand, Memory Plus Foam—Helix's proprietary memory foam—has a slow-moving feel. Aside from providing nice contouring, this blend of memory foam layers helps relieve pressure at the joints. Like most hybrid mattresses, this helix midnight model has about 1,000 individually wrapped coils that hold its support layer together. Spaces within the innerspring coils help promote efficient airflow and overall breathability while also adding support to the overall structure.
Helix Midnight Mattress Firmness
As previously stated, mattress firmness is a subjective metric and therefore depends on the sleeper's experience of using the mattress. After testing this Helix Midnight Mattress for its firmness, I rated it 6.5/10, meaning this Helix Mattress is a medium firm mattress.
Motion Isolation
When it comes to limiting motion transfer across the mattress, memory foam models excel in this area. But the helix midnight mattress is unique in that its performance on motion isolation almost matches that of memory foam beds. When my partner and I tested this hybrid mattress, we noticed that we got in and out of the bed without disturbing each other. Also tossing and turning didn't interfere with anyone's sleep.
We conducted further tests by placing a glass of water on top of the mattress and then dropped a 20-pound steel ball on either side of the bed to see how much the water in the glass moved. As expected the water barely moved. This feature makes this hybrid mattress a great choice for couples who toss and turn more often in their sleep.
Sleeping Position
Helix beds are made to comfortably accommodate all types of sleepers including this Helix Mattress. As a lightweight sleeper, I enjoyed the excellent contouring and support this mattress provided me. Average-weight side sleepers may experience some form of discomfort sleeping on this mattress but generally, this is no cause for alarm.
When I rolled on my back, I experienced a sinkage that was sufficient to offer excellent cushioning around my curves without sacrificing too much support. Generally, I liked how the foams felt. It was soft but not too soft which didn't make me feel like I was stuck on the surface. Heavyweight back sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds will sink a bit deeper but they'll enjoy the top-notch blend of cushioning in conjunction with excellent support. Lightweight back sleepers should experience the incredible comfort this helix mattress has to offer.
As for stomach sleeping, I felt a decent amount of cushioning, contouring, and support. But after some time I started feeling some strain on my back. I wouldn't recommend this helix mattress to exclusive stomach sleepers weighing more than 200 pounds as they risk developing back aches as a result of spinal misalignment. However lightweight stomach sleepers weighing less than 150 pounds should experience the mattress’ incredible blend of comfort and support.
Pressure Relief
Thanks to its polyfoam and memory foam layers this Helix Mattress does well in delivering excellent pressure relief. These foam layers allow you to sink just enough into the sleep surface for deep cradling. This helps relieve pressure from the shoulders and hips. Side sleepers looking for an effectively pressure-relieving mattress should consider going for this mattress.
Responsiveness
As a combination sleeper who often shifts from side to back sleeping and vice versa, I found the responsiveness of this mattress to be spectacular. Switching sleeping positions was relatively effortless since the mattress quickly adapted to the changes in my movements. So for combination sleepers seeking an incredibly responsive bed, Helix Midnight Mattress is their go-to choice.
Edge Support
Helix Midnight Mattress has good edge support but according to me, I'd put its sturdiness at a slightly above average. When I sat on it for the first few minutes, it felt sturdier until it started getting less supportive. I think those who stand to gain significantly from sitting and sleeping on this mattress' edge are individuals weighing 180 pounds and below.
Durability and Weight Limit
On the durability department, Helix Midnight being a hybrid mattress should give you a decent 7 to 8 years of comfort. With proper care, you can expect a lifespan of up to 10 years or more.
Helix Midnight Mattress has a 1000-pound weight limit for the queen-size model. That means 500 pounds on each side. Overall, this is a great mattress that supports all body types, sizes, and shapes.
Safety Info
Another thing I liked about this Helix Mattress is that it hardly released any odor. In fact, as we waited for it to fully expand we didn't experience any form of wheezing. However, it's advisable to leave it out in the open air or room with proper ventilation for any trace of odor to dissipate completely.
Like any other Hybrid mattress with memory foam construction, foams used on this bed are CertiPUR-US Certified. This means the foams have undergone a rigorous test for emission, durability, and performance and therefore safe for use. If you have asthma or allergies, this mattress is worth considering as it doesn't emit any harmful VOCs.
Casper Mattress Price & Offers
Helix Midnight Mattress is available at affordable prices across all sizes. While other mattress brands keep raising their prices, Helix Sleep Bedding company actually lowered their price in 2023.
If you are hunting for the perfect opportunity to get incredible discounts, the company offers 20-25% off on major sales events. For a high-quality hybrid mattress, the queen-size Helix Midnight model's price fell to $999 in 2023. Remember, purchasing this mattress comes with a pair of free pillows.
Generally, twin, twin XL, and full size cost $936, $1,061, and $1,248 respectively. The Queen Size costs $1,373 while the King and California King models each cost $1,748. Periods to expect major Helix Sleep sales events are; Labor Day, Black Friday deals, Independence Day, Memorial Day, and President's Day.
Service Satisfaction
Helix Mattresses come with great trials and warranties. For instance, the Midnight model comes with a 100-night risk-free trial like the Casper Mattress, it's best to test Helix Midnight for at least 30 days before deciding on whether or not it meets your comfort needs.
With a generous 10-year warranty, you can rest assured that this mattress will grant comfort for quite a long time. The warranty covers defects such as tears in the fabric, persistent indentations that won't go away, and sagging. Keep in mind that the warranty will only cover sagging issues so long as you use the recommended bed base. Like Casper's, Helix's warranty won't cover damages caused by improper handling of the mattress or the use of the wrong bed base.
Like most online mattress brands, Helix uses the 'bed in a box' method for shipping their mattresses. All Helix Mattresses are manufactured in the U.S. and ship for free anywhere in the United States.

Other factors that can influence your mattress experience include your type of bed base and pillow.
