Like any all-foam mattress, Casper Original lacks an innerspring and therefore has little to no bounce. When my partner and I tested it for motion isolation, the results exceeded our expectations. We could get in and out of bed without disturbing each other thanks to limited motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other. In addition, thanks to its tri-zone memory foam layer, I enjoyed extra support around my midsection which prevented my hips from sinking deeper into the surface.

Responsiveness

Compared to any typical all-foam mattress, the Casper Original Mattress is a bit more responsive. So moving across the surface is easy. For utmost reassurance, memory foam mattresses are reputable for responding to movements slowly but thanks to Casper's firmer foam layer at the base, changing sleep positions will be a walk in the park. Another layer that gives it its excellent responsiveness is the polyfoam zone at the top comfort layers. Compared to many ordinary foam beds, the polyfoam material on this memory foam mattress springs back to shape more quickly.

Edge Support

If you often sit or sleep near the mattress edge and feel like you're going to fall, then you'll know that edge support is an important factor. Despite being an all-foam bed, this Casper model grants you the freedom to spread across the entire mattress surface. For individuals with sleep partners solid edge support is super important as you need the entire surface of the mattress. Despite my 230-pound weight, I slept soundly near the edge of this Casper memory foam Mattress. Upon sitting on it, its high-density base foam ensured I felt excellently supported and secure. Note that like many all-foam mattresses out there, you need to limit your sitting on its edge as it might cause uneven premature sagging. Also, if your weight and that of your partner differs significantly, rotate the mattress 180 degrees after 3 - 6 months.

Durability and Weight limit

The original Casper Mattress doesn't have a weight limit. It's made to accommodate all types of sleepers. So, depending on how much you weigh, this mattress will feel like a softer or firmer mattress.

As for durability, all Casper mattresses are made of high-quality materials including this original model. So you can rest assured Casper Original will last a long time before buying a new mattress. As an average three-layer foam mattress, it should last around 7 years. If taken care of excellently, it can grant you a lifespan of 10 years. Aside from rotating it, remember to deep clean it at least once a year and keep it free of bad spills.

When it comes to limiting motion transfer across the mattress, memory foam models excel in this area. But the helix midnight mattress is unique in that its performance on motion isolation almost matches that of memory foam beds. When my partner and I tested this hybrid mattress, we noticed that we got in and out of the bed without disturbing each other. Also tossing and turning didn't interfere with anyone's sleep. 

We conducted further tests by placing a glass of water on top of the mattress and then dropped a 20-pound steel ball on either side of the bed to see how much the water in the glass moved. As expected the water barely moved. This feature makes this hybrid mattress a great choice for couples who toss and turn more often in their sleep. 

Sleeping Position 

Helix beds are made to comfortably accommodate all types of sleepers including this Helix Mattress. As a lightweight sleeper, I enjoyed the excellent contouring and support this mattress provided me. Average-weight side sleepers may experience some form of discomfort sleeping on this mattress but generally, this is no cause for alarm.

When I rolled on my back, I experienced a sinkage that was sufficient to offer excellent cushioning around my curves without sacrificing too much support. Generally, I liked how the foams felt. It was soft but not too soft which didn't make me feel like I was stuck on the surface. Heavyweight back sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds will sink a bit deeper but they'll enjoy the top-notch blend of cushioning in conjunction with excellent support. Lightweight back sleepers should experience the incredible comfort this helix mattress has to offer.

As for stomach sleeping, I felt a decent amount of cushioning, contouring, and support. But after some time I started feeling some strain on my back. I wouldn't recommend this helix mattress to exclusive stomach sleepers weighing more than 200 pounds as they risk developing back aches as a result of spinal misalignment. However lightweight stomach sleepers weighing less than 150 pounds should experience the mattress’ incredible blend of comfort and support.

Pressure Relief 

Thanks to its polyfoam and memory foam layers this Helix Mattress does well in delivering excellent pressure relief. These foam layers allow you to sink just enough into the sleep surface for deep cradling. This helps relieve pressure from the shoulders and hips. On the durability department, Helix Midnight being a hybrid mattress should give you a decent 7 to 8 years of comfort. With proper care, you can expect a lifespan of up to 10 years or more.

Helix Midnight Mattress has a 1000-pound weight limit for the queen-size model. That means 500 pounds on each side. Overall, this is a great mattress that supports all body types, sizes, and shapes.

Another thing I liked about this Helix Mattress is that it hardly released any odor. In fact, as we waited for it to fully expand we didn't experience any form of wheezing. However, it's advisable to leave it out in the open air or room with proper ventilation for any trace of odor to dissipate completely.
