Layla Sheets In-Depth Review
Layla's premium sheets are made to be extra soft and extra cool. Unlike Ghostbed sheets, which are crafted with premium Supima cotton, these sheets are made from Bamboo, which is known for being super durable, hypoallergenic, and breathable. There's been some hype around these sheets, so we were excited to give them a try.
Quick Summary:
The Layla Bamboo sheets are 100% viscose, which is derived from Bamboo. This gives the sheets a unique "jiggy" feeling, which is surprisingly pleasant. They're silky smooth, cool, and durable.

Why Choose Bamboo Sheets?
Bamboo may seem like a farfetched material to make sheets out of. Here's a couple of reasons why this material can be so great.
Silky Smooth
If you're a fan of that slick silk feeling, but don't want the heaviness or lack of breathability that comes with silk, Bamboo is an incredible alternative.
Cooling
If you struggle with staying cool at night, Bamboo is a breath of fresh air. This material, especially the Layla Bamboo sheets, is cooling and very breathable. This helps regulate your temperature throughout the night.
Odor Resistant
Unlike cotton, Bamboo doesn't hold onto odors. If you do still end up sweating during the night, at least you won't have to worry about your sheets smelling the next day. Bamboo is naturally odor-resistant and helps wicks away moisture.
Durability
You can feel the difference between cheap cotton sheets and premium Bamboo sheets. Layla's Bamboo sheets feel extra durable, even by normal bamboo standards. While these sheets may be more expensive than cotton, they're going to last longer.

Why Choose Layla?
If there are so many different companies making Bamboo sheets, you may be asking yourself why you should choose Layla sheets. Layla is a relatively new company, but they've already developed a reputation for quality. Aside from their sheets, their mattresses, pillows, and mattress toppers are all built with consumer comfort in mind. Where other companies cut corners to keep the price down, Layla goes the extra mile for their customers.
The whole purchase experience from Layla exceeded expectations. The sheets themselves arrive in a sturdy box, which makes you feel like you're getting a premium product...because you are.
You can tell these sheets are built with quality in mind by looking at things like the seams and stitches. There are minimal imperfections, which goes a long way in making sure your sheets last a while. If there are loose threads like you see in cheaper sheets, it's easier for them to get snagged or pulled on while washing, which cuts the lifespan of the sheets significantly.

What We Didn't Like About The Layla Sheets
While these sheets are great now, when they first came out of the box, they smelled really bad. There was a strong chemical odor that was hard to miss. We had to wash the sheets right away to be able to sleep on them.
After washing the sheets, there was zero residual smell, so it's not a huge issue.
Who Are These Sheets Best For?
Bamboo is a great material for making sheets, but it isn't for everyone. Here's a quick snapshot of who these sheets are best suited for.
Hot Sleepers
If you struggle with night sweats, one of the best things you can do is invest in cooling sheets and pillowcases. The Layla Bamboo sheets are ultra-breathable and help wick away moisture while you sleep, ultimately keeping you much cooler than other materials like cotton.
People Who Like a Silky Feel
While these sheets aren't made of silk, they have a similar feel. They feel like silk with a little more of a durable texture about them. They're ultra-soft but also heavy and breathable all at the same time. I describe the sheets' feeling as "jiggly," which can be hard to imagine, but when you shake the sheets, you'll see what I mean.
You Have a Thicker Mattress
If you already have a Layla mattress, it's obvious that the sheets will be a perfect fit, but they also have slightly deeper pockets than standard sheets. This means that if you don't have a Layla mattress, but the mattress you have is reasonably thick (over 11in), you won't have to worry about the fitted sheet popping up off of the corners.
Closing Thoughts
If you're in the market for a new pair of sheets and want something that's durable, smooth, and cool, these sheets are it. They're made from a durable viscose Bamboo material that feels similar to silk but without the bad breathability. Silk has been the most luxurious bedding material for a while, but it's time it makes way for high-quality Bamboo.
