Sleeping on the Layla Bamboo Sheet, I loved how it delivered a delightfully soft and silky feel. It reminded me of sateen sheets but with a more fluid feel. Combined with the fact that the sheets are hypoallergenic, I think they can be really beneficial for sleepers with sensitive skin.

What Are Bamboo Sheets?

Bamboo sheets are pretty much on par with what you might imagine. They’re bamboo textiles that come from processing bamboo fibers.

However, you might not know that only a particular bamboo species is used. Different fabric types are also often classified depending on how the fibers are processed.

Bamboo viscose, for instance, is the most common model. It's made by chemically processing bamboo fibers into a very soft, silk-like material.

There's also the bamboo lyocell, which is the most eco-friendly option. This model is made using a closed-loop process that contains fewer chemicals.

Lastly, we've got the bamboo linen, the most durable model. This type of bamboo sheet is made by mechanically processing the fibers into a more textured and long-lasting sheet set.

Benefits of Bamboo Sheets

There are plenty of silky soft fabrics used for making sheets, so why choose bamboo instead of cheaper cotton sheets? Here are the benefits you should consider before buying a different fabric for your sheets.

They Last a Long Time

Maybe you’ve gotten lucky and had sheets last for years. However, chances are they aren’t nearly close to the same condition as you bought them in.

It’s a well-known fact that bamboo sheets are more durable than other fabrics. It’s not just that they don’t rip easily (and you’d really have to try!).

They also don’t absorb all the icky stuff (like oil, dead skin, etc) that most other fabrics do. They’ll look the same as new even several years down the road.

They’re Eco Friendly

As we approach more and more ecological issues, the products we buy are just as important as other things we do, like recycling.

Bamboo textiles are natural, sustainable, and just simply better for the environment. When you buy bamboo sheets, there’s very little footprint associated with the entire process of making them.

Not only that, bamboo easily grows in areas where other plants simply can’t, which makes use of land that would otherwise be left empty.

You Can’t Beat the Feeling

Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of bamboo is how great the sheets feel. They’re incredibly silky, soft, and moisture-wicking and often rival even the best hotel and luxurious sheets in the market.

You get the feeling of luxurious fabrics like satin, Egyptian cotton sheets, and even silk. However, you don’t need to worry about them losing that softness over time, even if you’re using a bamboo cotton hybrid sheet.

Bamboo Fiber Is Good for Your Health

Bamboo fiber sheets may be good for the environment, but they’re actually good for you too. They’re often recommended for people with health issues or sleep disturbances because of their natural properties.

This material is naturally antimicrobial, which helps keep your sheets cleaner for longer. This lessens your exposure to germs and microbes that could get you sick.

What's more, bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic. So, if you (or your partner) suffer from allergies, bamboo is exactly what you need.

You Get More for Less

When you read most bamboo sheet reviews, you might see “300 thread count” and get confused. While other materials, like cotton, need an extremely high thread count to be as soft, bamboo doesn’t.

For these sheets, a 300-thread count weave is softer than a 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton sheet.

You might spend slightly more money on bamboo compared to other types of sheets. However, your other sheets won’t last nearly as long. Other fabrics won’t look as good or hold up well over time, either. In the end, you'll spend less with these sheets.

Conclusion

When you’re ready to refresh your sleep and get into a new pair of sheets, you really can’t beat bamboo. Between how it feels, how durable it is, and how eco-friendly it is, other textiles just can’t compete. You get luxury softness and a cool sleep, all with plenty of health benefits, with a set of bamboo sheets.
