Overall Thoughts:

In your quest to hunt for the best mattress topper for stomach sleepers, molecule Copperwell is an excellent topper worth checking out.

The contouring mechanism of memory foam mattress toppers tends to cause heat retention. However, the Copperwell Mattress Topper uses gel-infused memory foam and copper, which offers cooling relief. Its top layer has an open-cell memory foam layer that improves breathability and enhances heat dissipation.

Sleepers who often suffer hip and shoulder pain stand to benefit from Copperwell's HexFLO™ 7-zone surface technology. The technology offered different regions of my body targeted dynamic support. The layer also promoted healthy spinal alignment, allowing me to wake up feeling rejuvenated.

Molecule is a brand trusted by elite athletes such as Tom Brady and Alex Morgan for providing quick recovery for athletes. That's why some athletes consider the Copperwell Topper the best memory foam mattress topper for athletes and other people with an active lifestyle. GhostBed Memory Foam Topper

What We Like

  • Great for hot sleepers
  • Excellent for average-weight sleepers
  • Best for stomach and side sleepers
  • Removable and washable cover

What We Don't Like

  • Setting up the mattress topper may take longer

Overall Thoughts:

GhostBed Memory Foam Topper is among the best toppers that'll definitely transform your sleep experience on your existing mattress. Like the Copperwell, this Ghostbed Mattress Topper also uses gel memory foam that gave us a cradling comfort. As a hot sleeper, I can report that the GhostBed topper is an ideal pick for hot sleepers. The gel particles in the memory foam helped wick away moisture and heat, keeping me cool throughout the night.

More importantly, its convoluted design is perfectly zoned to offer different support levels for different body areas. Aside from the gel infusion, this convoluted design also helps boost air circulation.

The GhostBed Mattress Topper comes with a removable breathable cover that's stain resistant and waterproof. The cover is cool-to-the-touch to help dissipate heat. The topper surface is hypoallergenic to fend off textile allergens.

Generally, this soft mattress pad is a great plush mattress topper on the medium firm side. It's because of this firmness level that average sleepers would consider it a medium firm mattress topper.

Ghostbed's mattress topper thickness is sufficient to provide back sleepers cradling comfort at the hips and the buttocks. Moving on to my sides, I felt comfortable here, too. It offered the body contouring and pressure relief that I needed so I'd also recommend it to this group. It's worth noting that this topper only works best for a petite stomach sleeper. Its firmness level was comfortable but I think opting for a firm or extra firm model will keep heavy bodied individuals' hips elevated even better.

The GhostBed Mattress Topper is currently on offer going for $195 for a queen-size model. It doesn't have a sleep trial period but it comes with a 5-year warranty.

Lift By Amerisleep Mattress Topper

  • Excellent pressure relief

What We Don't Like

Overall Thoughts:

If your current mattress has started sagging, it's high time you upgraded it with Amerisleep's Lift mattress topper.

Unlike most mattress toppers, Lift by Amerisleep is available in two versions, the support and the comfort version—which are both 3 inches thick. If you want a firmer mattress topper to solidify your current mattress, go with the support version. The comfort version is for sleepers who want softer mattress surfaces.

The Lift Topper has a soft-cool-to-the-touch, breathable cover that enabled us to sleep at a comfortable neutral temperature all night long. Additionally, the cover is removable and machine washable, courtesy of its side zipper.

Beneath the topper's cover is the 3-inch comfort layer comprising slow-moving memory foam. Within the foam is the HiVE technology making some areas softer than others. This allowed us to experience an excellent balance of support and comfort.

All of Amerisleep's foam materials are CertiPUR-US certified, so you can rest assured your topper is free of toxic chemicals that can trigger allergies. Shoppers also have an option of putting Amerisleep's waterproof mattress protector on their Lift topper to further protect themselves against asthma and allergies.

In its construction, Lift also features Bio-Pur material, which makes it more cushioning. And like the Saatva Mattress Topper—which has secure fit elastic anchor bands—Lift also has its own special MicroGrip technology, which prevented it from shifting as I changed sleeping positions throughout the night. The Lift by Amerisleep Mattress Topper goes for $429 for the queen-size model. Although Amerisleep's trial period doesn't apply to their mattress toppers, they provide free shipping and back the Lift toppers  with a generous 5-year warranty.

Layla Memory Foam Topper

What We Like

  • Best for back and side sleepers
  • Excellent temperature regulation
  • Five years warranty
  • 120-night sleep trial

What We Don't Like

  • It may not be ideal for sleepers weighing more than 250 pounds.

Overall Thoughts:

Unlike the Lift by Amerisleep, available in soft and firm versions, Layla Memory Foam Topper is flippable. It's both a soft and a firm mattress topper in one. Depending on your preference, you can choose whichever side suits you best. However, as a heavyweight stomach sleeper, I didn't get the proper body support I needed when sleeping on the soft side. I only felt comfortable when I switched to my back and side, as the plush layers cushioned my hips and shoulders, and kept me from feeling pain or discomfort.

Another significant selling point of this mattress topper is its cutting-edge cooling mechanism. Similar to the Layla Mattress, this topper also has a THERMOgel mattress cover that helped shield us against night sweats and overheating. Unlike most memory foam toppers on the market, Layla has copper gel beads in its memory foam. The beads dissipate body heat, distributing it under the topper surface to keep us cool during the night.

Pressure relief is another property Layla Topper possesses. This stems from its cozy memory foam, making it a comfortable mattress topper for sleepers who don't want to sink too deep into the mattress surface. The slow-moving foam layers helped alleviate pressure on my joints, preventing me from waking up with hip pain.

Moreover, Layla is the perfect mattress topper for sleepers with textile allergies. Compression of the copper pieces in the memory foam forms a barrier that keeps bacteria and allergens at bay.

The Layla Memory Foam Queen-size Mattress Topper is currently going for $289. In addition to its affordable price tag, Layla ships their memory foam topper free in 48 states and offers a money back guarantee. They back them with a 30-night trial and a 5-year warranty.

And like most wool toppers, PlushBed is excellent for all-season use—keeping you warm during winters and cool during hot summers.

I was quite excited to sleep on the PlushBeds latex topper. Getting onto it was a breeze thanks to latex's bounciness. I never felt like I was fighting the foam material to get into bed. As I slept on my side, I could barely feel the mattress beneath me so if you want to soften your mattress, this medium latex model from PlushBeds is definitely a good pick. As for the mattress topper thickness, this bed pad is 4 inches thick. Notably, Plushbed is available as a medium and a firm mattress topper. The two firmness options allow for a comfortable back, side and stomach sleeping.

The firm topper is excellent for back and stomach sleepers, including Plus-size individuals with body weights exceeding 250 pounds. That's because, on top of cushioning the sleeper, it provides more support for a more comfortable sleep. The medium version is the right mattress topper for side sleepers seeking a perfect balance between comfort and support.Overall, this PlushBed Latex Mattress Topper is made of natural materials. And to prove their purities, the topper has GOTS and GOLS certifications. Like many latex mattress toppers, PlushBed is also relatively durable, and with proper care, it can last up to 2 decades. • Doubles as an excellent mattress protector
  • Deep pockets and non-slip base
  • Excellent pressure relief

What We Don't Like

Overall Thoughts:

Puffy Topper is a high-quality mattress pad built to last longer, fit your existing mattress easily, keep you cool and help you sleep comfortably. Since it's designed to fit any mattress, it can significantly help adjust your mattress's firmness. Puffy Topper's cover comprises 60% Polyester and 40% Bamboo, which helped prevent sleep disruptions due to overheating. The cover also has deep pockets that can accommodate up to 15 inches. Underneath the topper is an anti-slip grip mechanism to prevent the mattress from shifting on the mattress surface.During testing, the Puffy topper's high density memory foam conformed with my body excellently. It helped cushion around pressure points and the manufacturers claim that it relieves back pain. Unfortunately, this topper isn't ideal for sleepers seeking a soft, plush mattress topper.

When I was back sleeping on the Puffy Topper, it offered a fitting balance of support and comfort. My hips sank through the upper layer as it provided nice contouring. The side sleeping position provided a conforming cradle feel since the topper offers excellent pressure relief. Stomach sleeping, the Puffy topper wasn't supportive enough, especially under my hips. My center mass dipped into the surface and I could feel some growing pain in my lower back.

The Puffy queen-size topper price ranges from $195 to $229. It is backed by a 101-sleep trial period and a lifetime warranty.

Nolah Mattress Topper

What We Like

  • Minimal motion transfer
  • Excellent contouring and support balance
  • Great motion isolation
  • Removable organic cotton cover
  • Ideal for hot sleepers

What We Don't Like

  • It may not cover the entire mattress surface completely—miss by an inch.

Overall Thoughts:

The technology used to design the premium AirFoam™ Mattresses is similar to that of the Nolah Mattress Topper. Given the balance it provides between comfort and support, it's an excellent upgrade for an old mattress.

Nolah Topper uses breathable temperature-neutral Nolah AirFoam™ in its construction. Compared to some of the traditional memory foam toppers  we've tested, this material can dissipate heat up to 20% more.

Aside from cooling, Nolah AirFoam™ also offered advanced pressure relief up to 4x more than ordinary memory foam. In fact, it distributed my body weight across the surface, taking off stress from my hips, back and shoulders.

Since the beginning of 2022, Nolah Topper has collected up to five top awards. So, as you hunt for the best mattress topper for stomach sleepers, consider choosing Nolah as the right topper choice. You need about $450 to purchase the queen-size model, which comes with a 30-day sleep trial period and a 10-year warranty.

How To Choose The Right Mattress Topper

There are several things you need to keep in mind when buying a mattress topper. Let's take a look at these factors.

Pressure Relief

To check the pressure performance of a mattress topper, you can use a pressure map that should show you if the topper is ideal for stomach sleepers.

Toppers can indicate a lot of pressure exuding from the shoulder area or hip region. If this is the case, then the mattress topper is not ideal for a stomach sleeper. If the pressure around that area is low, then you can consider the topper.

Unfortunately, when buying toppers online, you will not have a chance to test it. Luckily, some brands offer night trials and warranties that can work in your favor. Additionally, you should read reviews like this one to learn about other people's experiences with the product you're interested in.

Motion Isolation

When sleeping with a partner, it’s important that your topper doesn’t transfer any movements from one side of the bed to the other. Otherwise it can be quite annoying and disrupting sleep every time your partner tosses and turns or gets in and out of bed. Reviewers use a glass of water on one end and make movements on the other end to see if the water spills. As for you, you’ll be able to test the topper by sleeping on it with your partner.

Edge Support

Sleeping on the edge of your bed as a stomach sleeper isn’t as risky as it would be for a side sleeper. The latter has a higher chance of falling when they turn since they are supporting themselves with one side and not their entire body. Regardless, stomach sleepers also need a topper that supports them when sitting at the edge of the bed. However, edge support is not a major issue with toppers if your mattress is great in that area. But using a topper larger than your mattress will render its edge support as poor.

Temperature Control

Some stomach sleepers are hot sleepers too. They easily heat up and sweat into the night. This is a very uncomfortable situation that can easily cause restlessness which will in turn cause other psychological and physical problems. To curb this heat issue, get a mattress topper with cooling technology whether a gel mattress topper, one with copper gel infusion, a latex foam topper or any other with similar effects.

Responsiveness

Responsiveness is all about having the ability to move around the bed or turn with minimal to zero effort. A good topper for stomach sleepers will give you the chance to do so. While stomach sleepers may not move around much when sleeping, they still need the same feature. Feeling “stuck" in bed can get uncomfortable and wake you up in your sleep.

Hypoallergenic Properties

For a stomach sleeper who has asthma and allergies, a hypoallergenic mattress topper should be your go to. You can also opt for an antimicrobial like bamboo which will equally be helpful. From the floor to the atmosphere and when opening windows to the outside, a lot of dust blows into your home as well as dust mites and other allergens. If your mattress isn't hypoallergenic, you'll be breathing in all these things in your sleep, disturbing your respiratory system and causing unwarranted diseases.

Presence of a Washable Cover

Many toppers can't be washed often to keep them clean, that's why we always advise sleepers to purchase mattress toppers with removable and washable covers. It then becomes easier to wash as frequently, keeping your bed clean throughout.

Covers are also good for extending the durability of the mattress by keeping off stains from getting into the mattress. That said, a cover should be waterproof for effectiveness. The third importance of a cover is to hold the topper in place with your mattress. This is achieved by the pocketed nature of some topper covers. You can also purchase a waterproof mattress protector and use it to  cover your topper.

Unfortunately, some covers only fit the topper and can't stretch down to the mattress. In such a case, consider buying a mattress protector. Other brands make covers with straps to hold down the toppers. Whichever option you go for, ensure the cover is also cooling, hypoallergenic and resistant to stains to some degree, if not 100%.

Conclusion

A mattress topper can last anywhere from 2 to 6 years depending on its quality. However, it also depends on how you maintain it. To increase durability, avoid eating in bed, jumping on the bed, get the right size and firmness, keep the topper clean always and your surroundings clean as well.
