Most smart mattresses aren't actually that smart. In fact, every other option on this list pales in comparison to the Ghost SmartBed 3D Matrix. But what makes the GhostBed 3d matrix actually stand out from the crowd of smart beds?
The 3d matrix is a brand new smart mattress from GhostBed, and it's making waves in the industry like never seen before. Just like other smart beds, the Ghost SmartBed 3D matrix analyzes everything from your breathing rates and how long it took you to fall asleep to your sleep stages to help identify issues and suggest improvements. However, unlike other mattresses claiming to be the best smart beds on the market, the Ghost SmartBed 3D matrix makes these changes for you automatically.
Aside from keeping you cool as you sleep, this smart mattress automatically adjusts firmness levels, per side (great for couples) to ease pressure points in real time. If you're a combination sleeper who often goes from sleeping on your side, to your back, and even to your stomach, you'll love what these features have to offer.
The mattress picks up where pressure is and actively works to ease it. If you don't like the idea of this smart bed being automatic and want to make the changes yourself, you have that option as well.
The other HUGE thing that sets this smart mattress apart is the different zones. If you need more support for your upper back than you do for your hips and legs, this is the ONLY mattress in the SmartBed arena that has you covered. It has 5 different zones that treat the different areas of your body differently, depending on your specific needs.
On top of being the clear winner among the best smart mattresses in the sleep industry, given its superior smart features, it also comes with a 25 year warranty, and free white glove delivery. This means the process of getting your mattress ordered, delivered, and set up is completely hands off. A true luxury experience from purchase to sleep.
Also Consider: GhostBed 3D Matrix. While not a smart bed, this mattress uses a patented 3D matrix foam to help remove heat and relieve pressure without the high-tech price tag.

Rest (Responsive Surface Technology) Original Smart Bed is an airbed that provides customizable firmness settings. It's a perfect smart bed for those with back problems, athletes, or if you just like advanced sleep tech. As one of the best smart beds in the industry, it can automatically adjust when you change your sleeping position. Alternatively, you could also use the smart bed App to set the firmness level manually to your preferred comfort level.
Materials and Construction
Standing at an incredible thickness of 13 inches, the ReST Bed has a higher profile than many smart mattresses in the industry—no doubt it ranks among the best smart beds. Its construction includes a pressure-mapping sensor layer, a thick comfort system, and a zoned air chamber support. The thin, breathable cover is machine-washable, designed with a flexible and breathable fabric that wicks away heat and moisture for a comfortable night's sleep. Beneath the smart performance cover is the comfort layer made of 3" of gel infused memory foam. This layer closely conforms to your body shape, thus relieving pressure points.
Since the memory foam of this ReST bed smart mattress absorbs and traps heat, the gel-infusion molecules help keep the layer cool. Under the memory foam layers, you'll land on a smart sensor designed from a flexible and antimicrobial knit blend fabric. It incorporates 1000 data points that continually measure your pressure data before sending the information to the App and the air pump to make the necessary adjustments.
Lastly, the bottom layer of the ReST Bed is the support core constructed with medical-grade polyurethane air chambers. Each side of the bed consists of five air chambers that customize the level of support at your legs, hips, lumbar region, shoulders, and head, depending on your unique sleeping positions and preferences.
A thick layer of polyfoam surrounding the air chambers of the ReST bed helps your smart bed maintain its edge support even if you set the chambers to a soft firmness level. This high-density polyfoam also acts as the base of your bed, providing shape and durability.
Technology
One of the superior features of the ReST bed is its pump which features a processing chip with algorithms to help it adjust to provide support and pressure relief based on your user data. The Rest App connects to your smart bed via a closed WiFi network for full customization. It allows you to switch between the three different operating modes (automatic, auto-position, manual) and view your pressure map in real-time. This App is available for both iOS and Android and upgrades automatically anytime there's a new feature.

Right from 2015, when it entered the bed in a box market, ESP has worked to create innovative mattresses that enhance better sleep. Just like its predecessors, the mattress incorporates unique smart mattresses technology to bring forth benefits that improve sleep quality.
How's the Smart Mattress Constructed?
The all-foam Pod Pro mattress is designed with comfort layers consisting of gel infused memory foam and polyfoam, a high-density polyfoam base, and a transitional layer. This foam padding provides spinal alignment, pressure relief, and body contouring while still offering bounce and elasticity. Sleepers weighing 230 pounds or less should experience even weight distribution and close conforming.
On top of the gel memory foam layer lies the Active Grid layer, which contains sensors to track sleep cycles and other biometric data such as heart rate and breathing.
Each morning, you can use your App to check your previous night's sleep score. Aside from sleep coaching tutorials, white noise playback, and a temperature-based smart alarm, the App provides health and wellness reports depending on personal factors like respiratory rates. You also have the option of integrating the sleep App with coffee makers, thermostats, and other smart devices in your home.
The top cover of this fantastic memory foam mattress also has thin wires which connect to an external water reservoir called the hub. This component controls your mattress' cooling and heating functions. Using the Eight Sleep App, you can program your temperature preferences, and the hub will cool or heat the water based on the selected settings.
You get to customize each side of your gel memory foam smart bed for a different setting, with the temperature ranging between 55 to 110 °F. Unlike the original Pod, the Pod Pro is softer due to the extra layer of polyfoam padding attached to the cover. In terms of firmness, the Eight Sleep Pod Pro mattress is considered medium (5) and measures 12" thick, thus making it a high-profile model.
Other technology features include the HRV monitoring and the GentleRise vibrating alarm. HRV monitoring is a biometric feature that tracks factors related to physical health. On the other hand, the GentleRise vibrating alarm gently vibrates depending on your preset wake-up time. All in all, this smart bed is an excellent pick for those seeking customized improved sleep health.

Smart beds such as this one are one of the best smart mattresses in the adjustable airbed bracket. Out of all the 360 innovative series mattresses, the i10 reigns supreme - in terms of the comfort foam layer, size, and price tag. Another factor that sets the 360 i10 Smart Bed apart from other 360 series smart beds is its capacity to read sleepers' movements while they're asleep and make necessary adjustments without waking them up. In addition to providing various levels of contouring support, this mattress includes technology integrations, cooling qualities, and different degrees of comfort layers to provide an innovative night's rest.
Materials and Construction
In a sense, i10 Smart Beds are just like other best smart mattresses on the market. They have an upper section made of foam layers for comfort, while the lower portion provides support. However, instead of using innerspring systems or layers of supportive foam, the lower part contains an adjustable air chamber.
These air chambers work best for couples as they enable you to adjust the bed's firmness level to your liking. Since they're fantastic air smart beds, you can decrease or increase the firmness of your mattress by pumping air out or in. The firmness settings range from the least firm (5) to the most firm (100).
The mattress itself comes in a California King, Queen, and the King size, with the Queen offering options for dual or single sleepers based on whether you have a partner sleeping with you or not. This 13" Queen size smart bed Is a perfect option for top-notch support if you need maximum plush surface support. It's covered with a plush and flexible cover designed from 83% polyester, 1% elastin materials, and 16% polypropylene. It offers a breathable surface that easily wipes clean when needed and cushions your body.
The 7" comfort layer features two different foam layers to offer maximum pressure relief and airflow. The patented Ergonomic foam contours your shape and body weight, while the patented ThermaLux foam regulates your body temperature, giving you a restful sleep.
ThermaLux foam is infused with ceramic to provide temperature balancing benefits due to its thermal conductivity. Unlike most traditional memory, it won't get stiff in cool temperatures. These foam layers lie above the air chambers that you can control through an app or a remote to suit your unique needs.
Technology
Beds aren't generally thought of as high-tech, but the i10 smart bed is an exception. Some of its technologically advanced features include:
Responsive Air Technology

There are many viable ways to track your sleep, from smartwatches to fitness sleep tracking devices, but nothing is well-suited for the task than a smart bed. That's the idea behind the Sleep Number 360 i8 Smart Bed, which uses biometric sensors to collect sleep data and help you snooze better. It's a hefty investment, but purchasing it is a comfortable, reliable, and highly customizable way of improving your quality of sleep if you have the cash to spend.
Mattress Construction
The i8 smart mattress has a 12" profile, measured from its base to the highest loft of the mattress. It's constructed from a combination of polyester/polypropylene fabric, a blend that is well-known for being soft and breathable. The duvet pillow top cover features 2" of Hypersoft Quilting foam layer, which integrates the Outlast temperature control technology to allow your skin to breathe. Apart from improving airflow, the Quilting foam provides cushioning for your smart bed. Underneath the smart mattress cover lies a 3" Plush Fit comfort layer with seven zones engineered to counter your body while offering pressure relief. Stomach sleepers have a reason to smile as this PlushFit foam layer effectively cushions the head, shoulders, hips, lower legs, and feet.
Like most smart mattresses in the Sleep Number category, the 360 i8 comes with either one or two air chambers, depending on the smart bed you choose. Queen size i8 Smart mattresses with two chambers are suitable for couples as they allow you to enjoy a personal configuration better suited for your body.
Keep in mind that i8's base is sold separately. So, when purchasing your i8 Smart Mattress, consider taking their Flexfit Adjustable Base as well. FlexFit base comes in three models, with each adding more functionality to your bed as you upgrade.
For instance, the FlexFit 1 lets you raise the bed's head and foot zones for maximum comfort. Elevating your feet helps regulate blood circulation, whereas raising your head gives you a better position for reading or watching TV. The FlexFit 2 includes adjustability that offers the feeling of zero gravity to help relieve pressure on your joints. FlexFit 3, on the other hand, heats the base of your bed, keeping your feet warm as you fall asleep.
Technology
The i8 comes with SleepIQ technology which includes sleep tracking sensors to calculate your sleeping score. They measure several indicators related to your sleep habits, including heartbeat rates and the number of times you get out of bed during the night.
Sleep Number 360 i8 also has a snore-support feature, which comes with the FlexFit adjustable base. The bed detects when you start snoring and smoothly raises your head to assist in stopping it. I8's remote control is compatible with all Sleep Number beds. It excels in simplicity, meaning even your kids and the elderly can quickly learn how to use it.

Smart Mattress Guide
As you hunt for the best smart bed, making an informed decision is essential in ensuring you get the comfort you crave. Since the smart mattress bracket is so dynamic, keep these crucial factors in mind as you review your options.
Firmness
Among the factors that influence bed comfort, firmness is the first on the list. Although firmness preferences are significantly influenced by sleeping position and body weight, they're ultimately subjective.
You can use a scale to measure your bed's firmness level or read online reviews and watch videos to evaluate it. If you want firmness flexibility, look for smart mattresses with specs of adjustability and customization.
Size and Bed frame Compatibility
Before you purchase a mattress, check it to ensure that it will fit your bed frame. Although many smart mattresses are compatible with all frames, including metal and adjustable ones, some are only suitable for base beds. Luckily, most smart bed companies also sell bed frames, so you can always find the right one for your mattress.
Smart Features
Smart beds should offer more features than the standard traditional bed models. Remember, these features aren't just fancy. They're beneficial and play a crucial role in providing restful sleep. For instance, if you want to keep track of your sleep patterns, tracking and biometric monitoring specs will be your priority.
Materials Used
It's natural to focus on the best smart bed high-tech features, but you need to note that the entire smart mattress should be well-built to offer long-term durability and excellent performance. Depending on your unique condition, go for beds that feature top materials such as cashmere, purely organic, or hypoallergenic. Most smart beds out there are made of natural materials like latex. However, you'll never come across Smart beds made of entirely organic materials. Notably, this is one of the reasons why most beds with smart features are super expensive.
Logistical Needs
These are one of the crucial considerations which most shoppers often forget. In addition to bedframe compatibility, smart features, and materials, you need to figure out other things, such as whether your current mattress needs to be hauled off or not.
Closing Thought
Smart beds use technology to improve your overall sleep quality. This can have a significant impact on your health and life in general. If you like being on the top edge of high-tech, including smart home integrations, then a smart mattress is the right choice for you.
Hot sleepers who want special temperature control features will get the best results from the BEDJet 3 and the ESP Pro Cover. The ReST Original Smart Bed and the Sleep Number beds work best for sleepers who like enhanced firmness and flexibility.
As for data-driven people who need to track their sleep, look no further than the Eight Sleep Pod Pro mattress. You can visit our website to learn more about choosing the right mattress for maximum comfort.

Hi Gabe,
I have been having trouble sleeping and waking up without back pain and sometimes neck pain depending on the pillow I use. I have giraffe neck and need curvature. I think I solved that with the memory phone crescent moon shaped pillow! However when I sleep on my lull it puts to much inversion in my spine and makes it hurt not very supportive. I put a gel topper on it that’s 4inches thick and it kind of helped but not perfect as I still wake up with back pain just not as much as the lull alone. I was thinking about a sleep number 360 smart bed or maybe a dreamcloud , or their organic bed maybe. What would you suggest for my problem? Let me know thanks.
The biggest considerations are your weight, and how you sleep.
Side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress, whereas back and stomach sleepers like ones that are a bit firmer.
