Satin is soft and luxurious, but sleeping on it might not be the best experience. Since satin is so slippery, you might find yourself slipping down the bed! Worse, you may feel uncomfortably sweaty throughout the night. Sateen is a little different though.
Made with the same luxurious sheen of satin, sateen feels more substantial, thanks to the weave of the cotton, and will still feel warm around you. We tried and tested a range of the best sateen sheets on the market and pitted them against one another to find the best in the market.
According to our tests, the best sateen sheets are the PlushBed Organic Cotton Sateen Sheets. These soft and luxurious sheets are ultra soft, cooling, and ultra-breathable.

Overall Thoughts:
There’s nothing better than lying down to get some sleep on some 300-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. That’s what you get when you pick out these Organic Cotton Sateen Sheets from Plush Bed. This sheet set is certified organic with a soft and comfortable feel to it, and is of course lightweight too. Even if you usually sleep a little warm, you should find yourself still feeling comfortable during hot summers.
Don’t worry if you usually have trouble with sheets due to allergies. These Plush Bed sheets are completely hypoallergenic and made with no dyes or chemicals, meaning that those with sensitive skin or allergies can still sleep comfortably at night. Just choose the size sheet that you need and you’ll receive a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two matching pillow cases too.
We personally were happy that these sheets were so durable. They can be run through the wash without a problem thanks to the seam—and the elastic on your fitted sheet will keep working too. With cooling sheets from Ghostbed, you're rest assured that everything will stay on securely throughout the night as they feature elastic bands around the fitted sheet. That's the kind of assurance you'll also get by purchasing the Plush Bed Organic Cotton Sateen Sheet Set. That elastic around the entire sheet makes putting it on your bed that much easier, with deep pockets that ensure it will fit around any mattress. The oversized flat sheet is easy to tuck too.

Overall Thoughts:
You’re looking for sateen sheets that are soft, silky, durable, and wrinkle-resistant. It’s hard to find a combination of that, but Molecule makes their sheets with you in mind. That’s why these sheets are cleaner, cooler, and made to help you actually feel rested when you sleep at night. All you need to do is pull on the fitted sheet, tuck in the flat sheet, and pull on those pillowcases in whatever color you choose. You can even pick out extra deep sets if you happen to have a larger mattress.
But what makes Molecule sheets unique? The Lyocell, which is an advanced fiber, is made from sustainably sourced wood pulp and eucalyptus trees. This means that it’s able to absorb water and moisture with greater ease—and far more efficiency than your regular cotton. You won’t have to struggle with sweating during the night, as these sheets will work to help regulate your temperature.
Since you’re not struggling with sweat then, you won’t need to deal with bacteria either. Lie down in your sheets and feel how soft and comfortable they are. The sateen ensures that they remain comfortable, and are still a little heavy for those cooler winter nights.
Feel the sheets and you’ll see just how soft and smooth they are. You can easily fit them around your mattress—and won’t need to worry about them coming lose as you sleep during the night.

Overall Thoughts:
These sheets are full of things to love, especially if you’re worried about the environment. They’re made of entirely organic, natural cotton. However, it’s not cotton like you’ve ever experienced before. Sleep & Beyond uses a special type of cotton grown to be super soft, all without using genetically modified plants. Unlike other cotton items, it won’t shrink over time either, so you know you can keep using the sheets no matter how often you wash your sheets.
The sheets are surprisingly light and airy feeling, which is a huge bonus for people that get hot while they sleep. Even if you typically have sensitivities to certain fabrics, you don’t have to worry about that with this bed set. It’s all naturally hypoallergenic, and even if you don’t have sensitive skin, the sheets feel great nonetheless.
These sheets are so good, they even have one of the highest textile certifications available worldwide. It’s the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), and you won’t find many other fabrics that can say the same. All in all, these sheets are durable, sustainable, and incredibly comfortable.

Overall Thoughts:
If you’re looking for natural sheets, then look no further. These are high quality sateen sheets that come in a set of four, so you can enjoy the same comfort throughout your bed. They’re easy to keep clean too. Since the material is all antimicrobial (without any chemical additives) you can really rest easy. The sheets stay fresher for longer, and repel icky germs and odor causing bacteria. They’re also naturally hypoallergenic, which is a huge bonus for anyone with sensitive skin that other materials irritate.
We appreciate how these sheets come with a certification so you know they’re safe, for anyone in your home. The material is all OEKO TEX certified, which means there aren’t any added chemicals, dyes, or anything else you want far away away from where you sleep.
You can tell the make up of the fabric is high quality, which also means these sheets will last longer. Plus, add the edges are double stitched and the elastic is reinforced, so you don’t have to worry about them wearing out.

Overall Thoughts:
If you’re looking for sateen bed sheets that really go above and beyond, you’ll want to look at this set from Tissaj. While some of the other sheets we’ve reviewed have a great certification backing them, this set has even more. Not only does it have the prestigious GOTS certification, it also comes OEKO TEX certified. With two certifications like that, you know you’re getting the most natural, organic, and environmentally friendly textiles.
What we really love is that it’s about more than just the sheets. Even the packaging is recyclable, and reusable. As a bonus, the sheets set even come with an eco friendly bag to keep them all together.
The sheets are softer than even most microfiber, and they're better for you, and the environment too. The company uses extremely fine threads with a high thread count and fibers from organic cotton to create a smooth, soft, and super light texture.
The size we used for our review is queen, although the set comes in sizes up to california king, so you can enjoy them no matter what kind of bed you have. Another thing we love? The deep pockets. The fitted sheet easily fits up to a 15” mattress.

Overall Thoughts:
California king beds are usually seen as the top of luxury; that is, until you have to find the perfect pair of sheets. Suffice it to say, it’s not often easy, nor is it cheap. Most people spend ages looking for the right sheets to fit a super sized mattress, only to end up disappointed. That’s the first thing that impressed us. Not only do they fit any california king mattress perfectly, they actually feel great too.
What’s the other best part? They’re surprisingly budget friendly. In fact, it’s the most affordable sateen sheet set out of all of our reviews. These are great sheets for people that like the feel and softness of microfiber, but want something more hygienic, and eco friendly. Another bonus? They last longer and hold their color better than even the highest quality microfiber sheets.
What Are Sateen Sheets?
Sateen sheets are made with a different weave pattern than other sheets for beds, and often different materials too. However, you’ll see a lot of cotton, especially organic, if you look through the materials. While sateen sheets for bedding have a thicker thread with a looser weave (often with a 3 over 1 style weave), they typically have a much softer feel than other types of sheets, especially if they're a high thread count.

Benefits of Sateen Sheets
Why should you choose sateen sheets for your bed? Afterall, there are plenty of different choices out there. Let’s look at why sateen is especially beneficial:
Soft, Smooth, Luxury
Sateen is rightfully described as a ‘luxury’ textile. While it may be more attainable than say, silk sheets, it feels just as good (or, even better). The special weave used to create satin makes for a buttery smooth, silky finish, and it doesn’t get much better than that.

Like Satin, But Better
Satin is great, as long as you don’t have to live with it. If you have, you already know what we’re talking about. If you haven’t suffice it to say satin sheets will be on your floor by morning, even if you just get a good night’s sleep. They’re slippery and let you feel everything, rather than letting you focus on the rest you need. Sateen sheets don’t do that, but they still give you the same silky smooth feeling.
It’s not only about the feeling, however. Sateen sheets also give you that luxury look without the effort, or the price tag. They still have a somewhat glamorous sheen to them, much like satin does. However, it’s perfectly paired with a modern sense of style that gives luxury without going overboard.
Easy Style
Another nice thing about sateen sheets is that they’re also easier to maintain, and tend to be more durable than other fabrics, like microfiber. For instance, pretty much all sateen sheets are washing machine safe, and never need special treatment to look good. You can say goodbye to ironing those guest room sheets ever again.
Ideal Winter Bedding
Sateen sheets can keep you much cosier than similar feeling fabrics, like satin or microfiber. While it doesn’t tend to overheat, it will keep you nice and toasty. Of course, this also depends on the thickness of the sheets you choose, and your own personal preferences. If you’re a hot sleeper, just make sure you choose sheets with a thinner make to compensate for your body heat.
Are All Sateen Sheets Made From Cotton Only?
Sure, you’ll see plenty of sateen bedding sheet made from cotton. That said, cotton isn’t the only fiber used to make a sateen sheet. When it comes down to it, sateen is all about the weave and technique used to create the textile you’re looking at. It uses a specific 3 and 1 weave, to allow you to feel the weft of the fabric first. 3 horizontal fibers overlap a single vertical fiber, or thread, which creates the unique feel of sateen.
In short, most sateen sheets are cotton, although that isn’t the only material they’re made from.
Conclusion
Are sateen sheets right for you? If you’re looking for a blend of luxury fabric paired with modern functionality, the answer is yes! We’ve picked the best sateen sheets that we have tested, but just in case you need the extra push, remember our guide on the benefits of sateen sheets. You can have environmentally friendly sheets that stand up against those of any luxury hotel. Not only that, you don’t have to break the bank to do it either.
